Anyone notice how APC has changed the top button on their New Standards?

// The old one (from like 2 - 3 years ago) was really quality, had a "heavier" feel to it and had a shiny gloss finish to the silver.

// The new one (about 8 - 12 months ago) is thin, more "flimsy" and has a matte finish.

APC also doesn't include the enamel pin with each pair anymore. Right when they took away the pin they changed the buttons and gave us a price increase from like $155 to like $170.

I love APC, but if your gonna raise your prices at least keep your product the same...

Because of the price increase and the removal of the pin, my next pair of pants probably won't be APCs. Yeah...might sound ridiculous, but the pin really sold it for me. Without that little touch, it just looks like any other pair of pants to me.

Don't think that's ridiculous at all. With jeans, it's always about the details, the small factors that make the difference against the gazillions of other jeans. So I think you're absolutely justified here. Particularly when paired with a price increase, I actually hope many customers will decide like you, so that the company will be forced to reconsider. Think of the unwiser changes Levi's made to their 501s, or, to name an example from a very different area, Coca-Cola changing the original recipe.

In one slogan: bring back the pin. Or we'll make you bring it back.

definitely. but it is complicated, they might do some market research and end up with changing details to reach some point. Like you said, one day APC may launch campaign "Pin with logo still there" like "hidden rivet still there" on Levis

On this 'quality' debate on the APC's:

I havent been in this Denim world for very long, compared to most, but I feel APC's quality is par. Considering I came from 40-50 501 STF's, and to basically spend 100 dollars more, and 150 less than a pair of Roys, I wasnt expecting so much more. Granted, I wish I sized a bit more accordingly, I love my 1 month old APC's and the lineage that came with it.

When I first bought them, I was slightly dissapointed that I found a few spare strings hanging from one stitch. Other than that, the selvedge stich and all the others are perfect. I love mine.

^^ yeah APCs are pretty good with the price mark under 200 but to be honest best jeans under 200 would probably be 3sixteens.

im not a hater on apcs but i believe 3sixteens are better for better quality.

I do have APCs and i love them and i im still wearing them hard, Im on my 5-6 month right now.

will post pics as soon as i get the chance. :)

It's like on some Nudie or Edwin models the great fading potential you have in APC jeans who made them so well loved here. Specially if you can wait for washing them over a reaaaall loooong time (if ever).

About prices: You can get some Edwin Nashville/Greenville/Waynville usually for less then 200 bucks too and they have a real good denim and fading quality. Even much better if you live near an Edwin Outlet store like at Weil am Rhein across the Swiss-German border opposite Basel, where you can get best Edwin raw denim stuff for about 30-60 Euros. And there are 3 other brands at the same outlet: Carhartt, G-Star and Big Star

^ Nice ! Like the damage on the butt, will you leave it unrepaired? Unusual spot for a developing tear, I wonder if there's any back story to it.
