^jlaz- Levi's made slightly different versions of that jacket from the '50s through the early '70s.

The shorthorn label was used in from the early '40s through the '50s, I think, so that jacket may be from farther back than '63.

Do you know the name of the specific style of jacket and or the value of something like that.

I've always called them suede trucker jackets, don't know that they have any more specific name.

I see the '60s version often go on the bay for usually just under or at $100- the '50s version, which I think you have there, generally goes for more.

  • 2 weeks later...

Nice shirt roy, is it made of wool? A lot of times I pass on shirts I find thrifting because they are wool and usually too scratchy to be worn by me.

Lately I have been finding pieces with Union Made stamps for example today a navy blue XL workshirt with cardboard still under the collar for only $5. The shape of the collar was similar that of the M37 by being extra pointy. On the collar was the Union Made stamp. I was wondering what era this would be from and if they are worth anything.

edit: I also found a few Big Mac chambray tagged 15 1/2 but definitely a size bigger and other style shirts. Are those 60/70s?

^The M37 is wool, and a bit scratchy, but so nice looking.

Union Made stamps really started appearing widely in the early '30s, and some clothing still carries them, so you would have to look at the individual stamp to guestimate the age.

Re: the Big Macs- JCPenney still makes those, so again you'd have to look at the tag.

also found this late victorian french horn, as modelled by my daughter (definitely the wrong thread...)

Have a whole load of 50's shirts that I used to wear when I was a rockabilly (as I guess do loads of others on here?). Will put up pics when I get the chance.

Last week I found what I assume is a late 50's or early 60's Unitog jacket at the Goodwill in Hays,KS.

It is a little big, but will work great for layering when it snows.

A cool double talon zipper.

Wish I could have found the hood also. But its good to know I can attach one if I ever do.

found this wicked 1970s (judging by the collar...) lee shirt in the local vintage shop this afternoon. heavy duty artificial fabric, will probably do as a light jacket for the early autumn.

the breast pockets are very elegant imo.

back (colour is about right on this)

Nice find, killer b...

Had a little thrifting trip round the charity shops myself today, and ended up with a few beauties...

In the one shop, found a superb navy blue Burberry wax jacket and also a decent Scottish-made wool suit. Apparently some bloke had been in a week before and taken in a vast amount of country clothing, including some decent shoes and boots that had since been sold... :( The shop was selling all clothing for half price today, though, so I found some consolation in getting the jacket for £4.75 and the suit for £3.75!

Burberry jacket with hood:

And the suit, soon to be taken to my local tailor's for alteration (fit pic to follow!):

Also picked up a decent Aquascutum waxed jacket which fits perfectly:

Full House Check inside:

I'll get a pic up of the jackets after I've rewaxed them, if anyone's arsed, as it really will add so much to them...

you can't wear those with just ANY boots... they have to be cowboy boots!

That's a swingin' pair of trousers! My guess is more 30's than 20's... amazing that they actually fit too!
