managed to pick up a pair of brown suede unlined loafers, NST tan calf, full strap #8 loafers, and #8 cap toes on the aberdeen in the past month. set me back a cool $900 for the 4 pairs. still kinda up in the air about the cap toes but on a dainite sole would make a wonderful winter shit kicker.

So I have a quick question to ask all you Alden experts on my cordovan Barrie Wingtip boots. I am super excited as I just purchased my very first pair of Aldens and received them today in the mail. As I was checking the quality/symmetry of both shoes, I noticed a small chip on the side of the barrie sole of the left foot shoe only. Since these are my first pair, I am unsure as to whether this is a defect/poor workmanship or something that is very common on Aldens. Is this something that i should worry about and return to the store? I have the option of returning the shoe within 30 days. I'm usually not this picky, but TBH, I kind of expected a little better quality control for a $740 shoe Let me know your thoughts on this.

Hello,

I need some urgent help on Alden sizing. Have done a search but can’t find the exact info I need so my apologies if this has been dealt with before. I am about to drop $800 on a pair of Alden Cordovan AF79’s on the Barrie last in a size 6D. However, because I live in the UK I cannot try them on! I have a pair of Alden Cordovan Cap Toe boots on the Modified last in a 6D and they fit me perfectly. Does anyone know if a 6D in the Barrie will also fit well? I keep hearing conflicting accounts – that the Barrie is smaller and tighter than the Modified.

As there is a no returns policy on the AF79 I’d be ever so grateful for any help and advice.

the chip isn't a chip, its just where the storm welt ends...it was probably just concealed by being cut a little bit more flush on the other shoe.

Does anyone know which J Crew stores stock Alden? A few different styles are currently on 60% off, but can only be purchased in store. I would make the drive to any store on the upper North East if I could confirm that the shoes would be there when I arrived....

Where did you see 60% off? Any idea which models it applies to? Not sure if anywhere here in Chicago carries them (never looked) but would probably put some effort into getting some at that price...

I talked with J Crew and if your looking at the Shell models the only location that carries them in store is the NYC location. Only the highest tier store gets the shell in stock.
