do you know any good, up-scale, international interior shops in these places? shops that carry high quality, pricey, stuff from all over the world?

if so let me know! thanks!

Singapore:

Space at Millenia Walk carries the main italian brand B&B, Kartell, Zanotta... I guess image wise its the strongest in Singapore now. Its got a great mix of edgy and also accessible designs.

Mod Living carries Cappellini, Moroso, Moooi. but the Cappellini isnt the edgier stuff. This is more like a Designer store for singaporean tastes. Still nice.

Cream at purvis street used to carry cappelini and really push the brand for the edgier designs, but not anymore now. The vibe is like those shops at SOHO NY where u walk in and hear Thievery Corporation on instant replay. Smaller and cosy and but still very nice. There are also other smaller shops at Purvis street.

Xtraliving at Park Mall carries Herman Miller, Magis, Alessi. It is also strving for a mix of edgy and the accessible stuff. Just brought a Konstantin Grcic Chair_one (Magis) from them. So this is kinda more off-kilter design. Its got nice Verner Panton lamps.

Toronto:

Uncle Otis - They're renovating right now...but i'm sure it'll look great once they're done...they've got a nice spot in the city, and with the new space they now have, things will look real nice.

Goodfoot - minimal and very nice...nothing too fancy...strong window displays, great interior art themes, the new shop Nomad should be crazy...jesar has most def done a great job directing the appearance of the store

Lileo - great looking space...have yet to visit, but pictures and word of mouth tells me it's a fantastic spot...IJF will be able to give a more proper and detailed description

Vancouver:

Richard Kidd - an incredible spot...they've done an excellent job with the space...hands down, one of the nicer spots in Canada

Yah I dunno where you got Caban from, its nothing crazy.

I would have to say that in Tokyo the Louis Vuitton boutique is by far the most impressive interior I have witnessed in terms. There is also a shoe store in Amsterdam which isnt sneakers it is womens formal shoes, I will try to locate their website for you, nevertheless this store will blow anyone away. An a glass interior which changes colors every so often and everything is a reflection, however words wont do this justice, you really have to witness it.

Getting to Toronto, you may just want to check www.3rduncle.com form there you can basically view all their products. In fact it is the Canadian Interior Show this weekend and I was with 3rd Uncle for their film shoot for their booth, it was unbelievable to the extent they are going for this show and I beleive they are going head to head with another interior group called Concrete ( not too sure of the name though ) . 3rd Uncle are responsible for also designing I-CII in Yorkville, eventhough its closing down, some of their interior features are unique. If you view the 3rd Uncle website, make sure you check out the Drake Hotel, pretty dope. In conjuction with 3rd Uncle is Gorbet Design , check out www.gorbetdesign.com for their collaborative projects.

helsinki

artek has great, modern scandinavian furniture, mostly alvar aalto.

finnish design shop, carries, as you can probably gather, typical finnish minimalistic design, eero arnio for example. has also textiles,clothes,books...

my personal favourite, aero, is very similar with artek, but has a bit more extensive range of designers, and also has great vintage pieces. this i recommend.

casuarina is a very elegant store, and has a great mixture of stylish nordic design and antique chinese and korean art and furniture.

IMO aero is the type of store of which you can drool outside the window but going in just makes you frustrated, everybody should be able to afford a 8000€ armchair ;)

I'd also recommend:

pino - http://www.pino.fi

formwerk - http://www.formverk.fi

zaza - http://www.zaza.fi

wanda - http://www.wanda.fi

yes, and working. this is my home town, but I've lived in a few places in between.

in my opinion (and I've lived outside the city and country) that whole image thing is very weird and completely made up. sometimes its pretty funny to listen to the bitter complaining of others which usually makes no sense..
