^Almost right about the pocket bags...have another look ;)

You win!

No prizes though.

Another pic from Gun (hope he doesn't mind me posting them...):

(I thought the SuperFringe allowed for 640 width pics???)

looking good Mike, did you go for slim straight or straight?

Straight...wasn't brave enough for the slim.

Sorry for the poor lighting-- it's a gorgeous day here in the Triangle, and I've been running errands while enjoying the weather-- these were the best within a limited time frame. A few notes: the denim is excellent-- nice and slubby, prickly, all you'd expect in the fabric. Construction is decent, but I'm willing to cut Gun some slack since these were one of the first he made in this cut-- I'm sure he's improved/continues to improve his craft. I did have a rivet pop out, luckily I found it and hammered it back on. Really digging the pocket bags-- some of the best I've come across-- sturdy, thick (selvedge) cloth that will last. Overall, a well-made pair of jeans with excellent materials and in a good cut.

These are the measurements Lance posted awhile back. Straight cut, #1 denim, Artist Denim donut buttons and rivets, 14 oz pocket material, plain back pockets.

Raw post wash measurements.

Waist 35 ½ --> 33

Front Rise 11 ½ --> 10 1/2

Back Rise 15 ½ --> 14 1/2

Thigh 12 ½ --> 11 3/4

Knee 9 ½ --> 8 1/4

Leg Open 8 ½ --> 7 3/4

^ I guess he's climbing that learning curve fast.

Gun's going all out too - he's getting in a machine that can chain-stitch the full circumference of the waist sometime this/next week.

A little more from him:

When do you expect your pair to arrive? I just heard from Gun, and he said mine should be here sometime after the 18th, since it's a national holiday there this week.

I ordered the same denim you did Mike, but I went with different rivets and buttons, different back pockets, and different stitching colors. He also told me that he was able to use the full waistband chainstitch machine on my pair.

Wanted to throw in that i just placed an order with gun as well. Got the slim straight 34 with the leg opening tapered to 8 in. I am a true 33 but need the extra room for my thighs. I got the full artist set of buttons and rivets. For denim, i got #20 which is 14.5 oz and is similar to the eternal 811 denim (according to gun).

i ordered the half-lined pocket with the #3 pocket bag as the lining and the horizontal stitch in black thread for a sort of half samurai, half eternal feel. Red tab as well. Really excited for these to arrive and will post tons of photos when they come in.

Same time as yours, after the 18th.

I like this idea of a week long national holiday :)

Which rivets did you get?

How great would that be? A whole week off...

I went with the aged laurel leaves for the buttons and the rivets. I never saw the rivets, but Gun mentioned that he had them so I figured I would give it a try.

So I just got my slim straight Artist Denim pair yesterday, and I just took a bunch of pictures of them. I apologize in advance for the low quality of the pictures. It's also a bit picture heavy, but I think it may be helpful for anyone on the fence about these. This particular denim may not be for everyone, but I love it. The color is very light, and pretty accurate in the pics, but it does seem to change depending on the lighting. It has a ton of character, and even my best pictures don't do it justice.

I went with the slim straight cut with all aged laurel leaf hardware, the #0 denim, a mix of yellow and orange stitching, peek a boo watch pocket, half lined back pockets, #4 pocket bags, and the red Artist tab.

For reference, the fit on the slim straight is very much like the Levis 47 cut, with maybe a bit more room in the thighs. I like the fit pre-soak, and will hopefully soak soon. But these won't get a ton of wear until after the LVC contest ends.

In terms of construction, the only jeans I have that are put together better than this are my first gen Roys. The Roys have the same shell lockstitch on the fly, but the Artist pair is not as chunky and solid. But these are put together much better than any of the LVC I've had.

I really like the color for summer too, and I think I'll be switching between these and my 33 LVC's for the rest of the contest. Since you asked for fit pics, here are some really shitty ones! It's raining hard here right now, and I can't get decent lighting.

They are obviously a bit weird in the crotch and the hips to start, but that will look better after they break in a bit. I am thinking about wearing them raw for awhile. I figure after a week or so I will give a really quick soak and wear them until they dry.

^ Very nice mate! 49 points of rep coming your way.

Can't wait to get mine next week (I still need to pay Gun for them - he hasn't gotten back to me regarding payment yet, hahahaha :P).

WOW Ray, those look great! That denim is not for me personally but I agree with you that they will be perfect for summer. What size did you go with?

Gun shot me some photos on my order in progress and I figured I would post them here to add to the archive for those who are considering an order

I went 34 x 34, and they are a bit loose in the waist, but comfortably so. I think after I soak and wear dry they will be perfect. What denim did you choose? Your pair is looking good, especially the half lined pockets with the chambray pocket lining.

I got the exact same size with the leg opening tapered to 8" instead of 8.5". Yours being unsanforized should prob come out to around 8" after a soak so ours should fit similarly. I went with the #20 denim which is a 14.5 oz, semi slubby indigo. Gun said it reminds him of the Eternal 811 denim so that helped sell me. 34 will be a tad loose on me too but i needed the extra room for my thighs.
