Dave's Quality FEET?

Australian Streetwear Store General Pants recently launched their new Footwear campaign with their cool new ORIGINAL title Dave's Quality Feet. Those interested in lobbying General Pants against their BLATANT Dave's Quality Meats BITE can go to [email protected] to vent their disgust. They are plagiaristic (is that a word?!) bastards.

it sounds less like plaugerism and more like light hearted knod that everyone will get a chuckle from.

I think it was intentional, like say daves quality meat "plaugerizing" the metallica's "...and justice for all album" cover for a t-shirt. You know what I mean?

it was actually sam's quality feet ... sam being the GP head shoe buyer ... and yes i also think it stinks and while we are hear GP's are a bunch of biters and bandwagon jumpers... they have never done anything original or creative ... ask anyone in OZ

Hmmm sounds like someone has a vested interest, Dolo.... what does DQM think about this - considering most General Pants customers have NEVER heard of DQM - where is the relevance of a parody? It is really not an obvious parody - GPs has a long history of biting small guys - here is another example - but feel free to lick the hand that feeds... GP is a crap chain doing boring stuff and using artists and designers to get their cool - feel free to support that. It is like pretending that Gap is original. Just because they might let you put some of your artwork in their crap magazine and call it giving you a profile, doesn't mean it is right. What is your connection to General Pants, Sneaker Freaker et al... anyway...?

What are you talking about?? Connection? I live in NYC.. I've neverr even heard of General Pants until you just mentioned them earlier. Relax, i'm not the only one who see's it as a parody, and i have no clue what General Pant's reputation is since like I mentioned I llive in NYC, not Australia.

I'm sure DQM could care less, but if you're curious go to www.davesqualitymeat.com and post this on their messege board. I'm sure they'll tell you the same thing, it's a parody.

And I wouldn't past anyone not hearing about DQM. I don't care if you shop at the Gap, Urban Outfitters, Genral Pants or Supply in australia. If you're going someplace other than a major sneaker chain trying to hunt down Nike quickstrikes it stands to reason that a fair percentage of those shoppers has heard of DQM (even if it's just in passing), since they did one of the more hyped and anticipated Nike collabs this year. More so if General Pants is related with the people who put out Sneaker Freaker like you say.

Dude this is nothing to get into a huf about regardless of how you feel about the store. Intentional or Coincidental it's a stupid parody, nothing more. It's not like they opened a sneaker shop called "Sam's Butcher Shop" you know?

this is all interesting because dave did open up a store called dave's quality meat after the now defunct dave's quality veal store that was in the meat packing district of NYC. if you go down to the area, you'll see the old dave's quality veal sign on the outside wall adjacent to APT.

Hmmm how can you make a judgement on a spread you haven't seen? How can you assume it is a parody? I guess it is interesting to push another view - but does it therefore follow that you can copy anything, by anyone and it is OK, because it might be a parody? That is just depressing. Recognising the roots of a shopfront, and going with them, is not biting. Doing a tribute to someone you admire, is not biting. Pretending to have an original idea (when it is not) before a captive audience who don't know any better - is biting. Is integrity important to you guys? What is the point of being so interested in global design and fashion, if you don't give a shit where it came from? Maybe all ideas are derivative of someone else's stuff - but this is a far cry from being a total biter. Are you just mindless consumers jumping from one link to the next to add to your very long web-intinerary, or do you actually care about the stuff you are pushing? Or does it just make you feel good to drop the names and talk the talk? And why make points about retail in Australia, if you claim you don't know about it - why not find out more...? Or is it just the supertalk philosophy to read everyone elses forums and say 'whatever' 'get over it' 'who cares'.... if you don't care why contribute?

GP are total biters - any of you who say they aren't don't know s*it about the OZ retail scene. As explained above they have a long history of biting the little guy.

The Ad is lazy and offensive and just typical GP. For it to appear in Sneaker Freaker 5 is in poor taste. The store Our Spot which has been around for years and is owned by a skater and actually sells DQM T's won't be getting the 90's even though it gets all other Nike quickstrikes and SB's and has been supporting Nike Retro since day 1. This is down to GP getting it exclusive. Prime example of buying power from a biting chain store f*cking over the little guy who has been down since the day.

Now that is a BITE for sure.....

If you open a nice lil niche store the last thing you want is a commercial company like GP biting you...They really dont care about the lil guys who are keeping it real and if you ask me the lil guys are what its all about...Hey Our Spot and DQM,love ya work..
