not going to get a PS4 until a hardware update comes along... i bought a fat PS3 at launch that lasted 6 months. stopped reading discs for no reason

The fat PS3 laser is incredibly easy to replace and costs like $15. My fat stopped reading after 3 years and I replaced it myself in a few minutes. You may want to look into it (if you still have it) if you want the PS2 functionality and shit.

 

I wanted to wait on the new generation as well but now I'm salty as fuck because I forgot about how stupid resale profit gets for new gen systems around the holidays.

Just inherited 1st gen ps3. All region and can play ps2 shit. Disc drive don't eject tho. How 2 fix? Thanx

There should be a tutorial on replacing the drive online. There is probably an issue with the motor used to drive the tray.

I did the no-cover thing for a while when I couldn't get the case re-aligned to feed the discs properly.

don't have it anymore, i sold it last year to someone who wanted it for parts. thanks anyway.
