Looking for a hotel near Santa Monica/Venice

My parents want to visit LA this summer and I figure the Santa Monica/Venice area would be good since I live in Culver and would be driving them around. I'd love a recommendation for a hotel around $200/night for 4 nights. What do you guys think? Any good/bad experiences?
