seems to be quite selective... daikanyama, top end of harajuku, and around back of aoyama look like they have been hit by a neutron bomb... but then its still a battlefield to get served in places like h+m and uniqlo. ginza and shinjuku seem a bit unaffected, and shibuya is just as mutant as ever. japanese will never stop shopping, but they will just buy a bit smarter. still a lot of interesting new shops opening up amongst the debris... but they are in increasingly obscure locations... the lux euro brands are getting wipped out bigtime as the japanese trading companies that fund them are in trouble.

wow this is depressing. is this due to the economy?

yeh. you wouldn't want to walk all that way to find the door closed... happy to say the door was still open 72 hours ago when i last checked it.

no, it's because someone had McDonalds for lunch and then in the middle of the meal decided he'd rather have takoyaki.. so he closed a couple of shops in his dismay.
