idiot. sketchers ripped of nike and made some payless 95's.

the og neons are the nicest shoes nike's ever made.

dude thats obvious that skechers ripped it from nike, considering that skechers werent made around 95 , most brands take ideas from nike including bape .

the og neons are the most overrated shoe ever made, u cant even rock them with jeans.. UGLY!

if you are talking about most hyped up nike last year i would say the JOrdan 14 or 10, since they are soo very ugly but still sold due to the fact they were jordans...when it comes down to hype i think the term refers to something that is only popular becasue of word of mouth, as opposed to looks...which is why i pikc the jordan 10 and 14....i thought the diamond dunk was a nice lookig shoe but it was talked about lot... i have nothing else to say other then i hate going on a ski vacation with a twisted ankle..ohh well @ least i have pain killers icon_smile_sleepy.gif

The pigeons were overrated- didn't they come in a VERY limited number? Didn't care too much for them anyway. I like some of the other dunks better! Funny thing- saw them on ebay 2 days before they were released (shipped from Chinaicon_smile_big.gif)

AM 90s are awesome- in my head they are the original running shoe. Dont think the infrared is overrated, because its the colorway that suits the shoe best. Fresh and clean..

The 95 neons is a nice shoe, but if its true that people were robbed for their shoes in Japan or paid 2000$ for them, then YES its overrated!icon_smile.gif Its a nice shoe though, and i think it goes very well with jeans despite whats been said in this thread.

BUT I CANT DECIDE ABOUT THE AIRSTABS!! in a way the design on the side looks asymmetrical in a bad way, but if you wear them and look down on them they rock.. Funny thing.. Im more on the plus side though.

How does nike hype their shit so much? I live in northern europe, and still i dig a lot of the same shit americans do. How does nike reach me??

usaasu- oh its nike this time? http://superfuture.com/city/supertalk/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=8041 hahahaha..

Quote: how does it seem over?

Nike played-out dunk SB's themselves w/extremely wack colorways and by catering to 'sneakerheads' more than skaters. Take the Hawaii's for example: PATENT LEATHER TOE-PIECE???!!! NOTHING could be more non-skatable than that. The true-to-your-school highs are the only decent thing they've come with in ages and those were 2 years late by the time they dropped anyway...def not in time to save dunk SB cred...

dunk SB's have become way more of a collectable sort of icon, like action figures, rather than something that's actually got some aspect of style, originality or legitimacy to it...

rhythmandsound and dontcaretoomuchforcrap crack me up

give me a break. skaters are some of the biggest fashion slaves there are

when Nike SB first started out, skaters threw them under a bus, they said they'd never skate Nike, evil empire, "don't do it" consolidated-style

skateshops were actually turning down Nike accounts left and right

but then sneakerheads embraced the new dunk colourways, blowing up the brand

then the skaters came around and jumped on the dick

the same skaters who trashed sb in the beginning now bitch and whine that the brand caters too much to sneakerheads, that too many non-skaters wear them, that they just want pairs to skate in but they can't because of the hype, etc. etc.

oh, and consolidated came out with a dunk high. unofficially, but come on, todd = consolidated.

yes, i think pigeon dunks take the cake. i read an interview on how kids lined up the night before and the day of the release there were thugs on the corners waiting bust kids for their shoes so the police had to escort the kids out the back door into cabs that would take them straight home. that shit is whack.

"too many non-skaters wear them, that they just want pairs to skate in but they can't"

PLEASE

that complaint is ancient and ain't even remotely an issue... i skated dunks before SB and when SB hit i was stoked...skaters just don't care any more 'cause it's clear that SB lost the plot long ago when it comes to dunks...

...and regardless if you skate or not, dunk SB's are TIRED, end of story

How were the Atmos safari AM 1s a Hyped shoe?? They sat on the shelves of most shops long after they dropped. They only became in demand a year or two after they were released.

Agreed. I saw them on the $39 sale table at tons of places a few months after they were first released. They were still ugly at $39.

I'm no shoe expert by any means, but to me the most hyped Nike shoes I can recall are:

Air Huaraches

Air Max CB 94

Air Penny's (1)

Air Much Uptempo (Scottie Pippen)

Air Foamposite

Air Jordan XII (great magazine ad)

Hyperflights

These are mostly Basketball shoes, but that's what I was into growing up.

Thank you so much for bumping this thread Kash.

I hadn't thought too much about the sneaker "game" lately, but I've been having tons of problems selling the last few pairs of my Nike SBs from 03 and such on eBay. Market has totally collapsed I think.

Fortunately I sold most of my "omg heat!!!" shoes a while back.

Looking back, I can remember the summer when the whole Diamond hardware dunk dropped as really being the tipping point. When they started doing Sole Collector events, like basically Star Trek Conventions for "sneakerheads" I think we all know it was getting out of hand.
