So, I got a hold of some tickets for an event that I was extremely excited to attend at face value plus shipping. I use the pay now option yesterday and do not receive a message from the seller until today. The seller refunded my money and let me know that they were very sorry but they "CAN"T FIND THEM ANYWHERE!". In a situation such as this, when clearly the seller saw that the tickets could be sold at a much higher price and simply turned down my sale, what can I do?

Update: I just noticed his first message that he sent me earlier today and it clearly states that he would be shipping them out today and to get back to him ASAP. Now he's lost them? Odd.

gotten a higher bidder?

hmmmm. i think you should be happy you did not get yen'd up on this. you got your money back, learn to deal with disappointment, would you have done anything different if you could get "a lot" more money for them? Or try another seller?

Sellers are horribly vulnerable to buyer scams on ebay. Ebay is very seller-hostile. Right now some fuck is cheating me out of a $240 sweater. I shipped international without tracking. Big mistake. Now he's claiming he never got it (he totally did. It was never returned to sender). Now he filed a claim and he's getting my sweater and my money. I have his address. I fully intend to kill him.

fuck shady ass buyers and fuck five finger discount motherfucking fedex

just sent out a box of stuff and I taped all edges w/do not accept if tape be tampered with and the buyer calls me (she's a frequent buyer) to ask where one item went cos everything else was in it but this one item (most expensive out of the bunch too that asshole)

I asked her if the box was tampered with and she said no, are you sure you included it? how many items did u place in the box? (at this point I'm vivid cos she's accusing me of being incompetent)

so I tell her that I boxed all her stuff up with a video camera recording as proof did she want me to send it out? (after awhile this shit gets annoying so I box at work where there's camera and I'm able to slice the part of me boxing it up and handing it to the fedex guy)

so she goes and checks the box throughly one more time after I ask and there was clear tape over the bottom where the fucking fedex guy retaped the box :mad: :mad: :mad:

yeah, it sucks selling on ebay. Paypal only protect buyers.

I recently sold something on ebay. The buyer claimed that the postal service guy left the package on his doorstep and the stuff was stolen from the box. I had tracking number but now I realize that didn't mean shit if a buyer claimed item not as described. (he recieved the package but it was ripped open and nothing was inside). The buyer could be making a false claim and no one would ever know. Paypal ruled in his favor.

Always buy insurance/signature confirmation to protect yourself. Make them pay extra postage if necessary.

Fedex (not dhl or ups) has stolen from me several times. I get a lot through the mail...

Fedex stole a pair of julian red jeans from me. I watched the tracking as it went from blackbird in seattle to baltimore. in baltimore the package *disappeared*! They refused to help. They said they would "put a track on it" which basically means that they'll let me know if it magically reappeares. Needless to say, the big, fat, black bitch on the other end of the line was less than helpful and had a ridiculous attitude regarding the matter, as if it's not fedex's problem. I'm really fucking easy to deal with on the phone. I'm polite and I don't play hardball. I expect a little fucking respect when I have to deal with these nasty little shits when I call. Fedex is just awful. They're all awful. Tampering with mail needs to be taken more seriously than it is because this shit is happening left and right to people.

With the new Terms of Service, I'm not selling anything on ebay anymore. The system is basically made to screw over the sellers in any ambiguous situation.

Hey, I agree again.

The new TOS for ebay basically gives the buyer the right to do whatever they want with the integrity of the transaction and throws basic business ethics right out the window. It's nuts. They've sealed their doom. People hate ebay now and should probably move to the next guy.

Speaking of which, anybody know any other good auction sites?

as long as you can prove that you sent it you'll win the dispute.

sellers are not responsible for shipping mishaps.

There is pretty much no way for the seller to win against a buyer who puts in effort with the dispute if there is even the slightest bit of ambiguity. It has to do both with the integration of ebay and paypal as well as ebay's new terms of service.

To be honest I haven't read the entire new ToS, but I know many people who sold on ebay for a living have stopped.
