Noobian Q: are these APCs Selvage?

noob Q here,

I went to a local spot to cop some apc new standards on boxing day. Trued on the indigos and they were all good. Tried on some black ones, they were good.

So I gave em to my guy at the counter and went to look around a bit more.

When I get home and put on the black ones, I notice they felt different.

I check the inseam and no red stitching. In the back they don't say new standard.

Just wanna know if these are just labelled different of if they really aren't selvage/new standards. The indigo ones I got both say new standard and have the red flat stitching.

The outseam to me says no, but as I said, noob here, so I ask for your advice.

They're technically not selvage as it isn't joined at the selvage ends. Having said that it's probably still the same denim - if not the same quality denim as the indigo APC's.

I guess someone at the sewing factory instructed the cutter to remove the closed selvage edge? Or maybe the designer said black denim and selvedge don't go together.

Either way I'm sure you are correct.
