serge: please forgive edmond, he is wont to say daft things...

that said i wish the levi's RED line didn't come with such over the top detailing.

was it? could anyone find the RED manifesto for me? :o

i don't know if there is a manifesto per se, but levi's red was levi's one of Levi's premium line before the denim craze now. It was levi's or bust back then, and the red line just made things interesting with unique cuts and over the top detailing. They used an old levi's red model for the type 1 cuts they issued for the mainstream.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Warehouse founded its WHOLE BUSINESS off ripping off levis. Back in the day, Warehouse were the closest you could get to the real deal.

watever man those are back in the days but these looks like dd pockets to me not ime to analyze history...

i see...what sort of "back then" are we talking about here? late 90s? early 2000?

I have always loved and collected Levis RED because I love what they are doing. They take classic levi's designs and exaggerate them. This current line to me is a caricature of orange tab levis from the late 60's. They have taken those elements and exaggerated them. I see a lot of 606 super slim in the jeans I posted. The jeans with the long pockets are an exaggeration of orange tab levis too. They also have the exact same fly, exaggerated bartacks and no rivets like orange tabs. I think it takes a lot of balls and money to create these designs which are totally original. The other ones posted later with the suspender buttons are clearly inspired by 1930s depression era levis. The first line (in hemp selvage and natural indigo) was based on the handmade jeans from before the turn of the century. Whether you like them or not, Levis deserves a lot of credit for producing the RED line and continuing in the tradition (since 1996) with ground breaking stuff, which is basically wearable art. Every time I see the new line it is totally unexpected. It is available for a season and that is it. No other denim company on EARTH does that! This is not to be confused with the cheaper RED line that they replaced the true red line with in the US which is bullshit.

thanks serge. I agree, it's a real fucking shame they dragged the Levi's RED label through the mud in the American stuff. It was actually a lower brand than the premium label, which was mainly crap towards the end anyways.
