The best place to get these is from the mainland of course. Or Miami, which is just about the same thing. A lot of times a friend can get an uncle or cousin to send some from back home for mad cheap--and you don't look like every other joe who bought one from Guess or wherever.

yeah, those shirts were the dress for mariachi players before they got big...I eat enough tex-mex to see these everywhere.

Yeah I meant "mainland" as in home country. Cuba, Dominican Republic peeps rock these hard. My family in Costa Rica wear them too and my Panamanian friends, but I think you're spot on as far as origins.
