Complete newbie to Japanese Denim / Looking to buy some at Take 5 in HK

Hello all,

Hope everyone's doing well.

This is my first post here. Been reading the forums for a little bit now and just made an account.

I'm currently an exchange student in Hong Kong. I'm originally from New York. I heard about Take 5 Denim here and I already checked out the store. The sheer amount of choices completely overwhelmed me. I'd like to purchase 3 pairs of denim that will be long-lasting and each have a different look and feel. I'd like my jeans to have a similar cut to the Earnest Sewn Fulton (sadly, the only nice jean I own).

Of the jeans I have read about on SF, the ones that seemed to be of popular interest are:

Eternal 811

Sugarcane 1947

Flathead 3001, 3003

Sda-103

Skull 5010X

Warehouse 1001X

(I'm also interested in PBJ and Samurai, just not sure which jeans are similar to Earnest Sewn. I like jeans slim and fitted, but not ball-hugging tight).

Can someone kindly give me a small blurb on each jean (why it's popular, is it the denim? the cut?) and approximate price. Please let me know which jeans you recommend for me. My budget is about 8000 HKD (before the 20% discount at Take 5).

Thank you very much guys, much appreciated.

Best,

MadCatz

Sda-103-they're just jeans

Skull 5010X-they're just jeans

Warehouse 1001X-they're just jeans

Uniqlo make great value modern cut selvedge jeans.

Bad ddml. No. *taps nose*

Honestly, what you have to do is go out there and try it on. When you're dealing with those companies (ie: companies that aren't inflating their prices for the Hollywood markup), you're going to get what you pay for. Every company makes different cuts and I doubt many people here are wearing much Earnest Sewn, so comparisons will be difficult.

Personally, I'd give the finger to all of those and get a pair of Kicking Mule Workshop 1980's. It's the greatest jean for the price, IMHO.

japanese high quality repro denim does not necessarily equate to stylishness

attention to detail may be A+ but that doesn't mean you should wear them with a balenciaga jacket and lanvin high tops.

summary: depends on your steez
