I think streetwear is all about the label and little about style or fashion. People that wear these labels early on (the trend-setters) usually move on as soon as the label is recognizable by a lot of people. So to be one of these trend setters is more about trying to be cool and in the know about these underground lables while they are underground, and to disown them when they are mainstream. It is like dodging bullets. I think real style transends all the trend-setting bullshit, and you will always look good. what do you think?

thats basically the exact truth

I'll even say I do it, but I genuienly love and appreciate all my clothes, and won't let what the masses play out fall off in my rotation, it just get moved back a lil. I dunno about other people who go on the quest for "the next brand", but to me its real fun just searching for what next and figuring out how to freak it right before everyone else even knows what the fuck you're wearing. Like usually a style plays itself out to me before others really really catch on, and by that time I'm wild gassed just be searching for whats next. NOw its at the point though we I just design my own clothes in my head or otherwise and have people I know who can produce them make them for me. Like I've literally designed Hats, Linen suits, t-shirts, and jackets for small cmopanies and stores to sell, just because I wanted one specific design that I thought was hot

ehhe...ahhemm (clears throat)

A little late to start a revolution buddy..

People dont like when you tell them what you think they "need to do"..and your pretty much asking them to dress like a clown and hope it catches on. Why would you want to be a trendsetter anyways? I guess, if thats your goal..why do you plan on starting something?

Try snakeskin underwear on the outside of your pants!! THATS HOT!!

I can't speak for other people who cnosider themselves trendsetters, as I consider myself, but I generally start walking away frmo a brand when the blow up, because they generally lower their quality severly. heres a break down of my favorite brands which might make smoe off ya'll laugh cause they all became huge trends.

this is particularly true in "high-end" urban

M&N- moved factories from the US to china and mexico, and dumbed down their materials severally. I've have compared jerseys I bought in like 99 to the same jersey produced in say 2002 or 2003, that I had to rebuy cause I was still growing, and practically every piece of material is of a lower quality

Iceberg- same, They began using less quality scren printing processes with their t-shirts, and changed their most amazing products, which were their sweaters, from having stiched ni designs to primarily appliques. They also began to make their designs too colorful and simple.

Ecko Unlimited- I was wearing if from when the name was echo and they came with mixtapes on tape, but after a while they stopped making their clothes "street", and just made them preppy. They also dropped their quality, like I have a jackets of theres from like man I dno't even know like the 6th grade that looks nicer and had more random stuff no it then anything out now. For a while they would use materials you'd never sen before, with extra metal parts, and neoprene elbow pads and shit when everyone else just made bubble coats

you tight son?

honestly I'm speaking dead serious on all of that stuff. I guess if having knowledge about the production of my clothes makes me gay then so be it to me its more about business then anything else

or if you tight or disgusted or anything else cause I will say I set trends then so be it. POint blank I do, I watched people follow my moves for years

I dont nkow what to say, you on a message board about clothes and shopping and basically trendsetting, calling me a fag for understanding or having opinions no any of those topics? How do you sound? Look through the paging passing, 100% of the brands I ask question about no one has anything to say about, and its because they dont know shit about them yet so think about it in comparison to you getting tight that I'm saying i start trends.

I dunno maybe I'm not supposed to say I'm fly or smoething but fuck it I'm fly, I'm sure alotta people here are too, because if they didnt care about it they wouldn't have found an niternet message board about fucking shopping

when something gets big, thats not the problem. the problem is when companies start to use the internet or celebrities to promote things and success leads to worse quality and bastardization of the brand.

old navy compying trends started by the little guys is a problem.

hot shit is easy to come by, but then you always got some faggot reading forums and copping stuff off ebay.

ebay kills stuff.

but dope people rock stuff by dope people and it will always be.

SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY, AND DON'T SELL OUT.

  • 1 year later...

I purchase clothing to my liking. I might be influenced by different styles but thats because style and trend is every where, from where you live to the dam internet. I would love to buy quality clothing everytime but sometimes if I like something then I would get it. I even think for people to buy expensive quality clothing or shoes or whatever is just the same as hypebeast clothing as you call it. Fashion has no boundries rules or whatever. Do and wear what you please. It might apeal to some but who cares. From hypebeast to trendsetters to expensive highquality rare crap...wear what you like and how you feel on that day.
