loose fitting high cut denim?

I've been lurking here for a while but finally decided to break the silence. I recently picked up a pair of Nudie Ralfs (my first pair of nice denim), but I cannot stand the fit of them.

Basically it boils down to me not being a small person (I got 38x34). The waist fit just fine, and was actually a bit big. My issue is the low cut of the jeans made it so that basically when i sat down they were falling off my butt and crushing my family jewels at the same time. :D

I've been wearing Levi Silver Tab baggy jeans for a while now. I like the legs on the Ralfs but the top was way too tight for me. I also like to carry around lots of stuff in my pockets (fat wallet, phone, keys, etc), which did not work well with the Ralfs.

I guess my question is what other styles/brands should I be looking at? I want something that is loose but not huge and baggy.

I looked through the list of online shops in the encyclopedia thread but didn't find any place that had the baggy björns in my size. Actually just finding any place that carries those online is difficult.

:: puts on his asbestos underwear and waits for the "fat people shouldn't wear nice pants" replies :: :P

Try some Sugarcanes.. they have a relaxed fit and a slightly higher rise so you won't have that same issue you're having with your Nudies..

If you go with Sugar Cane get raw, their one wash are undersized. A tagged 38 is closer to 36.

thanks for the advice.

You're only going to find one-wash in America.. Which is fine because you won't have to worry about shrinking and soaking..

As Tweedles said, any of the models are going to be great for what you're looking for.

Here's the measurements, cut, and info on the Okinawa, 1966, and Union Stars:

True, but if you need a 38 a Sugar Cane 38 isn't really a 38. Your site is showing a 38 actually measures 36.2, a fair bit short of 38.

Any LVC except 1947 and 505 1966 I think would be great. And all of the Lee repreos too.

505 67. ;) How is the fit of the 501 66 LVC? I suppose it's the tightest 501 from LVC?

EDIT:

I have been wantin' the 66 501 since I saw "Hells Angels on Wheels"

COZMO,

I'm also a 38 waist in most jeans. It's really all about the thighs for me. I don't need a 38 waist but I need it in so far as it gives my thighs room to breathe.

It just so happens that I'm looking to buy a Regular Ralf. You wouldn't mind giving me the thigh measurements on that jean, would you?

I'm not sure if I'm measuring it right but with the jeans on the floor laid flat the thigh diameter is 14". It is about 2" smaller than my baggy silver tabs.

I don't know if you're interested in LVCs but heres some measurements of some different models.

1933s fully shrunk 555s (Valencia St)

Waist tagged 38.

Actually with buckle on back undone 39

rise 13

across hips 50

thigh 24 3/4

leg opening at cuff 20

1955 501s tagged 38 fall 06

actual 38 waist

rise 12.5

hips 49

thigh 24

leg opening at cuff 18

I have the 33s on right now and are some of the most cofratable jeans I've ever worn. Full in the seat and thigh (but not hip hop baggy) and the buckle/cinch can be pulled in to about 34 if you need it that snug in the waist.

Is it possible to find those 33's in stores? I'm hesitant to order stuff online now without knowing how it fits first.

COZMO,

Hate to say it, but it maybe that most of these jeans won't jive with you. I think my body type is a bit similar to yours. I wear a 38 waist but its the thighs not the waist that give me a hard time. My thighs are 31-32 inches around. Not exactly Tom Platz or Coleman but big enough so that alot of jeans give me a hard time in the thighs. Alot of people don't understand this. They say, "Yea, Ralfs are HUGE, they will definitely fit." Says the person wearing a 31 waist. But actually most of these jeans APC, Nudie, Sugarcane, in their largest sizes measuring a measly 13.5 inches across the thigh are not too big.

If your Ralfs measured 2 inches less in the thigh than the comfy Silvertabs you've grown accustomed to, then, unless they're going to stretch, forget it. If you consider that even your basic 501 is about 14.5 inches across the upper thigh, the Ralf is quite small in comparison.

I think Sneakeraddict is right: best bet might be the Baggy Bjorns. And if you get the thigh measurement, pass it on.

Actually I didn't have a problem with the thigh size of the Ralfs. In fact when my wife saw me wearing those pants she said it looked like I had 'stick legs' due to the legs of those pants being so small compared to these baggy ones. I think my main issue was that the rise wasn't high enough.
