Yo I'm thinking about going to MAGIC just for fun cause I can get in with my shorty... What's the scene like? Are there lots of hot parties? I'm just trying to get the vibe...

Are there like good parties is my main question... like do lables throw parties at clubs and stuff? Do good DJs come through to play? Whatsup with that stuff, cause I don't work in fashion although I would love going to the show.

There are parties every night!

In Feb. LRG threw a party w/ Raekwon the chef!

555 soul threw a party with hollertronix!

vice with the panthers!

There were other random parties, drunk nights of fun and debauchery, good times all around!

Hey I thought you should just know that you MUST BE on the list to get into all these parties (like the above mentioned ones.) The doors/lines get very hectic with non-trade people trying to crash them. I have attended Magic several times along with all these parties and I warn you - they are very strict at the door.

As far as it goes for me, I will be "industry" for the week. I'm not going for kicks, I'm going with my girl who is industry and apparently I will have the necessary credentials to get into the necessary spots. But maybe its harder than she/her boss thinks.

ON TOP OF THAT, THE SHOW GROUND IS NOT LIKE A HUGE DEPARTMENT STORE WHERE THEY LET YOU GO INTO THEIR BOOTH TO LOOK AROUND, IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GO ALL THE WAY TO VEGAS FOR PARTY, U MIOGHT AS WELL GO RAPE A HORSE IN THE DESERT......

I was just at the MAGIC - POOL - PROJECT shows this past February for the first time. I deal mainly with small indie apparel lines and all the booths I WANTED to go in I was able to go in. You may have problems entering the big mega booths (ex: NIKE - you'll need to make an appointment) but the really interesting labels were small up and comers anyway.

As far as getting into the parties, pick up all the party flyers they'll be passing around you'll see all the people sponsoring the party. The big guys like Triple Five Soul will be throwing the party with a whole bunch of other people. Go to those smaller sponsor's booths. They give away VIP tickets like water. One thing - during these parties - even VIP tickets don't guarantee entry. Go early...unless you know the DJ or something.
