Thoughts on Levis 511?

Seriously, I don't get this. Why would anyone feel better about spending more money than you absolutely have to. I recently picked up a pair of 511's and the fit is just insane. Skinny, tapered, AND comfortable. That spandex makes all the difference. The denim is way soft, too. For what I paid, the denim is as soft as any premium denim.

I'm just looking for a nice pair of kicks with these. I already have a fitted hoodie and a bunch of cool t shirts to go with these jeans, but aside from my chucks, I'm looking for suggestions on shoes.

Allcap

if you can suck up your pride and wear jeans that cost less than $100, they're a great pair

picked them up at $30

this is after a month of wear

You know, i must admit..

I've seen the 511 in person and actually have tried a pair on.

The fit on these must be the best fit that Levi's is currently producing.

They're slim and well cut from top to bottom.

I'm not so into the denim itself, but for 30 dollars you can't complain too much.

If you're looking for a cheap alternative to slim raw jeans, you can't go wrong with these.

Does rigid mean the same as raw? When i asked the people at the store they didn't know if they were the rigid ones or not. how can i tell?

Is it just me or are those 511 washes different from what is in the NYC and other Levi stores. I own 3 different pairs of 511's and none of them look like the ones on there.

Also, anyone know what happen to all the redtab's that were in Levi's a few months ago. Besides the 511s those are the only Levis that seem to fit me and I kind of want to pick up a pair now that I am getting bored of 511's.

Wow thats rather interesting i didnt know that the 511's came in raw they definatly would be a great summer jean as long as they dont have the spandex. I know that levis puts it in some and not in others.

Does anybody have images of these jeans in colourway "RAIL"? I'm looking for really slim black jeans and buying these and sizing down a size would be a good option. I'm not gonna spend 140$, which is the retail price for Levi's 511 in Finland tho.

I got some black stretch 511s on sale, and although I like them a lot, the rise is really too low for me. Are there any similar jeans (don't have to be black) that sit at the waist? It seems like the designers assume that everyone who wants a slim/skinny/tapered fit also want low-rise.

these are thus yet my favorite pair of jeans... i've worn mine in and out since they first came out which was around january/februrary... they're getting some color loss but in good places... these things lose color way quick... you can't really beat this kinda denim quality for 50 bucks... not to mention LEVI has marked down the prices to $29.90

here's what mine look thus far..

i own 45rpm, mark newson for Gstar, and Levis 511. take a guess at which ones are my go to pair.

511s are great because theyre cheap enough to treat them like the shit that jeans are suposed to be. The irony behind all the uber denim out there is that they try to replicate the old fashion workwear denim but people treat them like mink coats. 511s are the answer bitches.

I've been debating on picking a pair of these up for like over a year now. Love the fit sized up by one or two but not so much on the washes. Maybe ill take a ride up to new york or down to ac and pick a pair up. I've been meaning to attempt a waxing project and I think these would be the perfect jean for it.

I bought two pairs of the Soft Rigid finish 511's off Ebay. It is not raw, but more of a one-wash and the fabric looks similar to a pair of rinse finish 501's.

Compared to the Riff 511's, the denim just slightly heavier and is 100% cotton, no spandex. I bought one pair in 30"x32" for a tight fit and one pair in 33"X30"(I usually wear a 32" waist) for a looser fit and after almost a week and a half of solid wear and no wash, the 30" waist pair has stretched to 31.5".

I machine washed the 33X30 pair in warm water(inside out) followed by an 80 minute trip in the dryer and the waist had shrunk about 1/2". Indigo loss was very minimal and the fabric didn't get fuzzy like you'd washed a pair of 501 STF's. The fit is very flattering with a nice slight taper that I've always wanted in a pair of Levis.

do you get nice creasing with the soft rigid? the "soft" worries me

This afternoon I picked up a pair of 511s that I will hopefully have a pic of soon, curse my lack of a digital camera. The fit is great, a nice skinny leg with some great stacking at the bottom. The denim is nice and lightweight, so I think these jeans will see a lot of play come the summer. I don't like the almost girl like low rise on my pair, the wash is a little generic and I'd rather have buttons, but honestly it's one of the best fits I've ever had, and certainly beats the shit out of anything you're going to find for under 100 bucks. If you're not a brand whore and don't mind wear 50 dollars jeans and you're looking for a nice pair of slim jeans, I would seriously recomend lookin at the 511s.

50$... i got mine for 16 at Pacsun.

If you're located in the states these have been sold since around March of 2006. They were being sold in Levis stores since then and were shortly pushed into other stores after.

whats the diff between 511 and 514? also does anyone have a pic of them while wearing them? hard to see what it fits like when its just lying on the floor

The 514 is a straight leg while the 511 is super tapered. I had to size up one to fit into these and they're still extremely tight. ( I got the rigid). I love the fit of these though, I love a tight low rise jean and I think fit is a great cheap alternative to Nudie's Thin Finn or Hobokens from Julian Red.
