as much as i hate to think it, i feel that we on superfuture are part of the reason that levis went ahead with this.

were'nt we the ones buying alot of the denim in the first place, showing that there was an american and european market for the product? didnt we demand better accessability to it? the japanese companies only started shipping here because we asked for it.

now we are paying... a little or alot is yet to be seen.

I was thinking the same... Plus Self Edge opening in San Fran, along with the recent SF party... The amount of press going around in the heart of San Fran was bound to turn some heads in Levis....?

i would think so. These brands have been around for quite sometime without any attack on them. I'm sure the growing interest in denim overseas prompted Levi's to at least work faster and go through with their plans even if they had been planning it before BiG, SE, etc. came into the picture. Besides, I though there was more interest in denim even before the stores opened up (which of course allowed the stores to survive).

I think that Levi's just opened a new era for Japanese denim, they did all those japanese brands a huge favor by putting them in the spotlight...

IMO it seems that great quality products are receiving FREE PUBLICITY...

The question is, do we want those great brands to get so famous??:(

uhhh. not really. ask 10,000 people on the street and you'll maybe encounter one other person that knows what's happening. what publicity?

i shld get in on this....

You must wear a jock strap cut from the loins of your favorite pair of Japanese rebel-selvedge (honeycombing optional) and show up at the first light of morning tomorrow.

As an example, the following pairs were removed from the dead bodies of Ring Ring and Serge last evening by law enforcement:

I hope all you denim rebels die in the ensuing battle. Japanese denim needs to driven deep underground and crushed... so collecting it can be even more of an elite, obscure, and highly exclusive hobby that it used to be.

yes, we were getting too lazy.. We need to rep the guys who first sign up for a rakuten account and actually give us access to Japanese brands without the middleman. What happened to the days of spamming rakuten to see if they ship to the US, or of translating whole pages of Japanese to see if I placed my order correctly....yes we have become denim sloths, awaiting our selvage on silver platters.
