Am I nuts? Can this be done?

I love Visvim 7 holes but I dont like the super thick sole, it feels like walking around in platform shoes to me.

I love the sole on my buckminsters, not too thin, not too thick. perfect.

If I get size 11 7 holes and ask a shoe guy to resole the 7 holes with the sole from my sz 11 buckminsters will he look at me like `are you nuts?`

ie could he cut the sole to fit the 7holes? I guess this is presuming the buck sole isnt smaller in area than the 7 hole..size 12 bucks for resole sz 11 7 holes..?

EDIT: oh yeah vis dont make sz 12...

Am I nuts??

Here`s what i`m talking about:

The only Visvims ive seen in person were the FTBs, so take what I say with a grain of salt...

Arent the soles on Visvims fused with the body? Like a running shoe? Could it be easier to just shave and reshape the sole? I read somewhere that they make the soles extra thick so they last longer, so in effect you would just be advancing the life by like 5 years...

Then again I dont know anything about them.

Cheese grater? I dunno... Might help if you know someone with one of those laser guided CAD machines.

Your an english teacher right? Is there a CAD class at the school you work at? Maybe you could have the kids there work on it...

Ps. Mastermind 7holes! Nice!

Sorry posted a pic in the OP.

Mickawes - interesting idea, gotta investigate shaving or reshaping the sole, sounds safer than changing the sole with a different model shoe...wonder what tools you would need for something like that..?

Before you start shaving, you should check whether the soles have "air pockets". If you shave the sole too much, you may expose these "air pockets". If the sole is solid rubber, you're good to go.

You could have the cobbler shave the sole. I've had cobblers level heels which have worn too much on one edge, so the sole is better balanced.

you wont be able to cut/paste the soles. i just compared mine, bucks 11 is smaller than 7 hole 11 in the sole, plus the shape is rather different. and who the hell will fuck around with the sole of mmj 7 hole (no resale value if you do that)

So you`re saying I AM nuts? Okay I get it : )

Yeah cut and paste the sole was one of the stupider ideas I`ve had...haha

Resale value? like most stuff I buy I keep and use for years. nah if I get em and can modify them I can see me rocking into my 40s...so classic..

Good point. the sole looks like its constructed of 3 layers if those are mold lines on the midsole so I was thinking of taking off the first layer but yeh...airholes are prolly in there.

Where do you guys get your Visvims? I only have one pair but that was bought off of ebay. Thanks!

And with the 7 Hole, I would not shave it at all. I think it could lead to major problems.

Alot of people on here live in LA, SF, NY and other cities that have stores carrying Visvim.

True, and you wouldnt have that nice vis sole pattern anymore either..so many problems, air pockets, uneven-ness, no grip but it could pay off by making me actually feel comfortable in them...could be a gamble.. a 70 000 yen gamble
