gallery fundraiser thing on thursday. generally i do not dress up, however i want your general consensus on if this would be appropriate....

black corduroy blazer from H&M

crispy plain white prada dress shirt

black silk tie, probly w/ a silver tie clip

brand new apc NS, never worn

black on black vans slip ons. its either those or some prada slip on loafers which i fucking hate, just for the fact they have no back heel....they are a weird style, hard to explain.

everyone at this thing will probly be pretty dressed up, but i feel like i could pull it off. based on a general idea of what it sounds like, do any of you think i could do it?

the top pieces sound ok, but you should maybe look into some black leather shoes, with a leather sole and heel. Would improve the outfit tremendously over canvas sneakers. Basically what I wear to work everyday.

edit: Unless they're skin-tight, I would probably wear those APC's the day before or something to get rid of the creases along the sides from being folded at the store. Crispy and fresh is nice but you don't want to look like you just wore them out of the store!

i should have clarified, im attending as a guest. actually bought a ticket, so that makes me a donor i guess.

ive just always been a fan of the sneakers with shirt and tie thing, but never actually bothered to try it out. i wish i could find a few pictures of people wearing the outfit i described and get yall to pick them apart...

The outfit doesn't sound bad excpet for the shoes. Put some nice black leather dress shoes (your choice on style) on and you should be ok.

Oh yeah, like dismalfuture said, wear those APC's a little so they don't look like you just had someone put an outfit on you.

id have to disagree wioth you there with the details things.

odviously you cant wear somehting outrageous, but a plain outfit with some exqusite details/accessories makes a msiive difference.

as for dressing for the occasion, this being a gallery fundraiser, not exactly black tie/ white tux and if theres no requsite dress code, smart denim should be a viable option

What gallery?

And is it a benefit auction?

If so for whom?

I ask cause these three factors can really help determine wether that's appropriate.

Exactly, gallery fundraisers go from very casual to black tie from my experience. His outfit might be appropriate, or not depending on the type of events. I mean this question kinda sound like "I have a job, is that outfit appropriate for it?" Not much info to make up your mind, is there?

Obviously its your call on just how formal to go, I wouldnt wanna be the only guy in jeans and slipons though.

Regardless of what shoes or trousers you wear personally I wouldnt wear a plain white shirt ( smells of business/formality ) with a cord jacket ( cord is a more relaxed fabric for me, sounds like a weekend jacket ) its just a bit of a clash. Id go white tee with cord jacket or wear a black wool jacket- id do this if your wearing a tie clip. I understand you want to mix things up a bit and look cool, but to me just wearing jeans is enough of a casual influence on a pretty formal outfit- white shirt, tie clip, etc
