Bicyclettes

NJS =/= high tech though. They specifically outlaw high-end carbon/Ti/alloys because they want their frames to always be hand-made, lugged steel.

Now I can understand buying it for the nostalgia/quality (just like we buy Brooks saddles or English hand-made, lugged bicycles), but saying it's super high-end tech?

But, this is Superfuture, and I too will drool and shake my fist at those able to afford authentic 3Rensho frames.

Oh and 500 should have been (arbitrarily large number larger than 500).

Ah, so you're just moaning about people buying NJS. Fine. But don't bring Dura-ace, Ultegra, Chris King, etc into your little rant and then there won't be any confusion. They've got nothing to do with Keirin certification.

that looks so so good man. only thing...me and lugs/threadless don't vibe, but i know that's a personal thing (and it still looks incredible). congrats! the wait must be super nervewracking

Yeah, I just love lugs. We talked about a threaded stem, but threadless is a little more adaptable. I agree threaded would be more aesthetically pleasing but we went with threadless because we both thought it would be the better choice for something I'm using this way. I dunno, I like the look now, keeps it from being so retro.

that's some slaaack geometry, especially with the layback. if you got a custom, w hy do you need a layback anyways?

looks solid though. liking the fenders.

Yep yep, super lazy slack geometry for lazing about. I think (though I haven't asked) that the layback is likely just for holding it in the stand. Last I saw the part list had a nitto "crystal fellow" seatpost. If I end up with a layback seatpost I'm not sure why really. If I were to guess, it would be that I'm 6'2" with a 31.5" inseam, very long torso, and a 6'7+" armspan, so . . . yeah. dunno though.

The stem is temporary. There's a custom stem coming, but the maker is helping his parents build a house, so it won't be here until mid-July. And, yes, the seatpost height is completely random.

Oh fuck, sue me.

Sorry that you can't jump on the hypetrain.

the thing that bothers me most about all the people jumping onto fixed gears is not that they want a certain kind of bike, but that they are so fucking impatient they won't wait 6 weeks for it.

this generation sucks. why do we expect everything instantaneously? if you want the bike, suck it up and wait, or buy a different one.

They do in the sense that there's always people who buy super-high-end components and then use them to bike to the local cafe.

It just seems a little ridiculous that people keep talking about needing the latest and greatest (which in this case, is NJS certified frames + phil wood/chris-king/dura-ace components) in order to hop on the fixed-gear keirin hypetrain.

But they have the money to blow, and once again, this is superfuture, so I'll go back to my bikeforums now.

...because bikeforums kids don't beast over parts either?

i mean, with riding 500 miles every 2 months and all, i'm surprised you have any time left for browsing the internet, so it's probably good you narrow it down to 1 forum
