It is a good day to be an American

But in all seriousness I think these next couple of years are extremely important towards where the country is next headed. I'm a little cynical of the political process overall, but I certainly think that the lefties ( I mean moderates, for serious ) can hopefully do a better job than the last group.

I'm distrustful of politicians in general, so we'll see.

Basically, they're saying that the left pretty much holds the house AND the senate. Allen is supposed to be speaking later in the day, and hopefully he'll man up and concede, because from the looks of things, it's over. I am very excited for the next few years--certainly apprehensive as well, but at least things are going to be changing. The only thing that worries me is during the last 2 days, I've hardly heard the president address anything but the war when it comes to issues, and he continues to deny the fact that voters voted republicans out of office primarily because they don't want to be in iraq, or at the very least, are extremely unhappy with the situation. All i've heard him say about this is something along the lines of, "I think americans want victory...." I really just don't get how else we can shove our disapproval in his face.

But yes, it's a great day to be an American. Hopefully this will bring us back on the upslope; however, we still got a LONG way to go

Do you really think he doesn't wake up every morning to see a poll on his desk that says Americans aren't happy with the war? He gets it.

Everything we hear is spin and power plays. Conservative strategists are specifically telling him not to talk about it because its a losing point. Which, honestly, I'm fine with. I would prefer the next two years to finally involve some domestic issues.

very true thorns, finally we can get on the myriad of domestic problems that seem to be overlooked. As a virginian, i'm ecstatic that Allen conceded. I actually respect him more as a person now, although he is still despicable. He could have been a prick and kept the contention going for quite a while

you just wait, we're plotting a takeover of the country.

(I'm having an image in my head of george bush's with cowboy hats and boots running all over london saying new-clee-er)

haha, you already took over the country, the dawn of your demise is upon us. i swear to god every administration mouthpiece has drawl. except condi. she's a robot.

I love Texas seperationists personally. It all seems a bit nuts until they point out that actually they have half the farms, most of the nukes and the space program.

and we're the only state in the union that can fly our flag as high as the US flag. Plus, we were our own country once.
