Denim in Singapore

A lot of you have asked me questions regarding the shipping. To be honest I do not know how much shipping will cost at this point. So here is what I will do.

((Total Item Cost:*15%)*0.013)+SGD$13

As of today, the paypal conversion rate is 1000yen = SGD$13.06

I will use the conversion rate of 1000yen=SGD$13 as the basic conversion rate for simplicity's sake. The difference will be calculated from the $13 paid.

This S$13 will also cover shipping as well as any miscelleneous charges that may occur. The actual shipping cost will probably only be calculated once the package has been received in japan.

I will the calculate the shipping cost per person either by number of items ordered or value of your order. Any excess which you have paid will be refunded. Similarly, you have to pay any excess if the $13 is not enough to cover all your individual charges. (I highly doubt this)

My reasons for doing it this way is because I do not want to delay the order unncessarily because certain items may run out of stock. The new deadline for orders will be Friday Night.

The deadline for payment willbe Saturday Morning. Only POSB/DBS Fund Transfers please because interbank transfers will take a few days to clear. Alternatively, you can come down to Eunos and pass me the money personally.:D

I will send the payment by Saturday afternoon at the latest. However, Japan is having a 4day weekend holiday so the earliest I can expect the shipment to arrive in Singapore will be next Friday/Saturday.

Payment details will be given later tonight when I have more time.

hmmm. i don't think much of Raoul's shirts. got a couple of 2 ply shirts from them at first thought it was a great buy given the fabric....well its started to come apart at the shoulders other areas and i've only worn them a coouple of times and always professionally laundered. YMMV.

Should check out styleforum for really good shirts and compare the prices

i'd rather pay for tailored shirts now.

Hey Damien, any tailor to recommend? Want to get a couple of shirts and pants done but kinda leery of going to one of those tourist trap places at Far East/Peninsula.

And oh yeah, you just gave me a reason to break out the Imperials I got from you guys. Then again I got the raw blacks which are prob at a disadvantage!

Can also get your favourite shirt and send to chan from hk. according to styeforum

Anson tailor (Hong Leong Finance basement gets good reviews

Also check this site.

Yeah heard good things about Anson tailors too. Funny thing, I was just looking at the same site with the reviews yesterday.

Compete with Valhalla? Shoot, man practically has it all wrapped up already. Only way I can catch up now is to hitch myself to the back of an SBS bus. That or pursuing a career in construction.

Lancing may work, but then again, they may win the prize of the stinkiest too.

hey damien, i see you have the same problem. really, the kind of money you drop on raoul shirts isn't justified by their build quality. you know what, i brought back the shirts that were coming apart, they replaced them for me. just go back to the outlet you got your shirts from, and demand a replacement.

hey the best tailor i can recommend would be in bangkok. if you happen to be there you might want to pop by paul's fashion at amari watergate hotel. it's by far the best value for money tailor i've ever come across. a tailored shirt works out to be only around SGD26. and they use european fabric, the quality is better than any lame raoul 2-ply.

well if you don't happen to go to bangkok anytime soon, you might wish to try men's tradition at peninsular plaza. or there's this small tailor's shop at harbourfront, just at the end of seah im food centre called pakali. a shirt done is about $50 - 60, depending on the choice of fabric. oh, pakali's shirts are decent, but its strenght is pants. i did all my pants there, $100 for 3 pairs. i've been wearing those for 2 years now, no complaints at all.

hope this helps. i realised this post has nothing to do with the subject matter, but whatever :D

oh yeah i forgot to respond to the main subject. yeah it's quite true the raw black is much harder to break into than the indigo, but if you wear your pair often enough, they'll start having nice fades.

what kind of "lancing" are you talking about? i wear mine for lindy hop, but it does little to induce any form of wear on the dukes. but it does stretch the denim.

surprisingly imperials don't seem to stink like APCs. i hardly even air my dukes, or even used a drop of febreeze on them, but they don't seem to smell anywhere as bad as when i was breaking into my APC NS. i finished a whole bottle of febreeze on the APCs, aired them and sunned them; but they still smelled like a dog's arse.

As of right now, I am not taking any new orders. (backinthetrees is the last)

It has gotten a bit too big and I need to finalise all the current orders. "Invoices" have been sent to those whose orders will probably not face any stock problems.

A couple of others have some items either out of stock or backordered.

Apologies to those who wanted items that sold out in the past couple of day. If I do this again, I'll probably collect orders within a day or 2 at the most.

I will place the order the moment I receive all the money.

Yeah saw a whole bunch of people (locals too) at Men's Tradition, can't be too bad. Pakali eh, will give that a try. Haven't really made something custom before but think it's a whole different feeling knowing something is made to fit just you.

The only kind of lancing I would imagine can produce any kind of fades is one with a lot of grinding, so yeah the good kind. Can almost imagine a girl going - "you crocked all over my butt!" "Yeah but it's imperial raw denim so that's Japanese indigo all over ur ass. You should be honoured."

proteus if you wanna make a suit, pakali is ideal for that too. a whole bunch of us got our suits made there for a buddy's wedding. we gave the tailor a picture of a hugo boss runway model, chose the material and specified the details. it turned out pretty good. and the best thing is, our suit was SGD150 a piece. you can't beat that kind of price for the quality.

defiance i'm not sure, i think it really depends on the material you choose, and the mood of the tailor that day, if he's gotten any nookie the night before. if he did, you might get your blazer for free. if not, you better get him some nookie.
