color = dark colors, blacks, browns, deep greens.

material = something of a more interesting material, not just, like, an american apparel nylon windbreaker...if it's thin it should have a lining, but specifically something that isn't quite a winter jacket, but warm.

style = classically '80s'ish', but nothing stupid or bomber jacket'y...i suppose a classic, nondescript jacket is what she's after.

yeah, that's probably a really good idea. i think what i'm asking mostly is where to find this sort of thing...i mean, obviously vintage spelunking is obvious, but i guess options are what i'm after.
