something about o.g. anime that really hit the spot compared to new ones.

hand painted cels just had that warmth--new anime is so clinical, even the truly exceptional shit. i feel like a lot of anime was more earnest back then, nowadays anime is marketable. generic jpop stars get fame for their generic openings to generic series. i wanna say there are only a few studios around with the same level of artistic integrity they had in the 80's/90's.

there's sooo much personality in 80's 90's anime. i agree that cg has made lines too clean and cold feeling. i also feel there was so much more creativity with directors/writers having more freedom with their work. nowadays, anime companies care about the bottom line and selling moe moe tits mouspads.

btw: this thread was a underhanded ruse to get some anime recs from you guys.

Pretty obvious choices I guess, but Yu Yu Hakusho and Gundam Wing were two of the first anime series that I really loved.

It's weird to watch older shows in HD on my computer. Need that CRT quality.
