i saw that in the catalog, and it was definitely a shock. I wonder how it will sell considering the type of person that looks for selvage would almost definitely not want it from J. Crew (aka us)

i bet the denim is quality, but the wash is incredibly bland. for a "5-year-wash", there's no honeycombs, no whiskering, no nothing. just an even lightening of color. blah. if they did a raw selvage, and i needed jeans, and i was cornered, i'd go for it. i'd at least steer my friends to it. and if they had women's------i'd make my wife get em.

they should just do plain rigid dry selvedge. rather than tinkering with "5 year wash" or with gap putting those scrunches in the back of the knees. maybe its too plain for the wider market.maybe they feel if people are paying 100$ and up for jeans it has to have some kind of distressed look already.
