good hip hop

OK - maybe this is a new album that I havent heard, because I havent heard this song. This is an excellent development because Mega is my favorite MC in the past 10 years or so.

Ha I remember when he first made this video. Song was from around 2000-2001...he did three solo joints in a row, and "Megallah Graffiti" was the joint everyone was feelin'. A good, not to mention interesting, era...the summer leading up to 9/11 and that Will High shit and the rest of the madness.

Mar was an ill cat and played a large role and influence to me for the few years we were close and shedding our final layers of teenage insanity. We were supposed to make some fresh music and shared many great times...usually ending in endless break night freestyle sessions at the crib...may even have some footy left from it...but alas...times have changed as we've both grown up more.

I was randomly searching youtube and this was on the front page:

I know atleast 2 people will appreciate this...

This kid I know linked me to some clips of him remaking classic hip hop beats. I respect what he does and can dig the whole 3.5 floppy disk thing...but cannot understand why he wouldn't just get the RAM expansions to his MPC2G. I guess he won't be able to just do with the floppies once he gets more sampling time (and actually takes advantage of it).

Lastly...

This ain't new...but it's damned good...and was actually pretty fuckin' new to me upon discovering it today (I'm sure it will be new to most of you). Truth is, I've been on an old Cam'ron kick for the last few weeks...(the first two albums plus freestyles around the time of the Roc signing). This is '98 Cam doing some live shit at what looks like a (college?) radio show. Crazy.

Speaking of Mega(the other mega) this has to be one of the best interviews I've read with a rapper in 10 years.

http://www.hiphopgame.com/index2.php3?page=cormega3

Good interview. Did read his interview in Elemental Magazine around 3 years ago? That was another good one. I won a 2 year subscription to that magazine from DJ Eclipse's WNYU radio show.

One of my friends worked for a hip hop site, interviewing artists by phone and he had the chance to interview Cormega last year. He knew I'd been a Mega fan for a long time and I gave him a bunch of questions to ask, but unfortunately he threw in some dumb shit anyway so overall the interview wasn't so great.

I should've persuaded him to let me do it.

But one question I made my friend ask that Mega was took back by was about the Tres Corona collabo. Such a random song, him with two MC's from Europe.

Seriously...I played myself when I forgot to mention the repeat plays of COTC material. All of them were nice as shit back in the day (even Murda Mase...soundin' a little AZ'ish)...shame about L and Bloodshed.

One of my favorites, "The Corn"...(excuse the minute and change of intro)...but nobody can front on this...that early 90's dirty Wu Tang vibe with the whole Harlem everywordrhymes flow...ridiculous.

Ha...funny thing is, I actually agree with you...but only if you add that Killa Cam was the nicest out of that click. It was ill cause Lifestyles Ov Da Poor is such a ridiculous album...yet when you hear COTC heater after heater...1. L is barely on any tracks 2. L's flow seems almost out of place (not as gutter as the others, a little too much Lord Finesse influence that made him come off a little too punchy to me).

Also, McGruff was SLEPT-on. His album (thanks Heavy-D?) actually had plenty-o-bangers (obviously in favor of the shit with the Lox and Mase).

Right now Im listening to that I Pledge Allegiance to The Game from Killer Mike right now. Had to dig into it after I heard this:

Sorry to break up the reminiscing but I wanted to give Killer some shine.

One more for the fuck of it...just for all of those elitist naysayers on some "nah Big L was real Hip Hop, he wouldn't dare go out like the rest"...

Peep ya man in the red doin' the wiggle...straight '97 uptown steez with the fitted and matching leather...and fisheye lens to boot...lookin' like a thinned up Ma$e.

Cam "will ya?!?!" grills ftw.

Can't hate on L.A.X, it's quality mainstream shit. Some tracks could've been dropped or replaced by others, Touchdown for Superman for example. Also, I'm fucking disappointed with the Dope Boys track. They should've captured the raw energy from that live video, that would've been dope. This is not a classic or anything but I can't hate. Game is on his grind and he got enough integrity to earn my respect.

Problem solved. Dunno about shipping cost etc tho. Guess I could order it for you and then resend it but I doubt it would be cheaper.

One of the rare tracks on 'Eardrum' that didn't perforate the aforementioned, the perfect beat gets a video.

I really like a bunch of tracks on Kid Cudi's mixtape. It's kinda unconventional and he got a different sound. Kinda reminds me of Wale (cheap one) but not as intense. He rides the Dilla beat (can't remember the name) on Cudi Get so damn nice and that shit ain't easy. Also Man on the moon is cool and so is Embrace the martian.

Send me a PM and I'll shoot you a link.
