My selvage Dior Hommes...

Recommended Posts

I just got these the other day at the Dior Homme mini-store in Seoul. Japanese 19cm. They had two different Japanese-made raw 19cms, one was just ever so slightly darker, with a rougher hand to the fabric. The ones I got are just a bit lighter (even a bit lighter than APC raw denim), light-ish in weight, and the waft is very consistent and tightly done. The former were also about $100 cheaper than the latter, which makes me suspect that I got new season models.

My surpise came when I got home and found these are selvedge. Have they always been like that? I thought I remember the other Japanese 19cm's that guys posted here as not being selvedge...

^ Dude, don't bother. Korea is the most expensive place in the world to buy anything, particularly something like this. I paid 465,000W for them which at the exchange rate now is probably like US$500. Just buy some off eluxury or luisaviaroma. I can't because if I bought online I'd end up having to make up the difference at Korean customs making it useless for me, and I don't plan on going back to the US anytime soon.

If your dad has money to burn on you, then I guess rock out. The store is in the main Galleria department store, Apkujung-dong.

either one works, but technically, saying "I couldn't care less" doesn't really make any sense...atleast not in the way you want it to. Both are usable phrases and mean the same thing in the English language...even though they don't.

Haven't seen those in person...as far as I know Dior did selvedge raw denim jeans during their first run of denim in S/S 03 (the prototype raw jeans before that with the zip-up fly might have been selvedge as well), and then after that everything was non-selvedge. Don't know about the newer season stuff though...if they got selvedge ones comin out then i gotta pick up a pair when my current Diors are busted, for sure.

"I couldn't care less" makes perfect sense. The only way to say it more succinctly would be "I don't care" or "Who Cares?"

Although "I could care less" means the same thing idiomatically speaking (though gramatically it means the opposite), it has a certain metonymical twist... What is left out of the phrase "I could care less" is something like "but caring less would take an effort antithetical to my stated lack of interest"; the speaker is already so disinterested that the statement is never completed.

Are there black selvage Diors? If so, which model?

does that go with all Dior jean models? anything 28 and under will measure up 17CM?

I think it varies more than that, and anyway it's under 30 not under 28....

interesting... I went back to Dior the other day looking for black raws and went and re-checked the jeans and they still had both selvedge and non-selvedge Japanese 19cm indigos. I'm pretty positive mine are newer. Tag price for the non-selvedge was 365,000W, about $380 something? They didn't have my size in those though. These Korean prices include a lot of VAT and import/lux tax, almost 40% sometimes. These things are so expensive here in relation to everything else that I wonder who they sell them to in Korea, I'm reminded of that APC Manila thread. Most people who've seen me wearing these jeans are fucking befuddled and just don't get them because Koreans dress like Italians, in the bad sense.

How much are these at Selfridges including VAT?

On the other hand, I really want the raw black 19cm's and they don't have them here. They also told me in their poor English that they don' think they exist, which is wrong right? I just want those black Brut Nostalgys that they have on luisaviaroma for 170EU. I guess I will just have to get my kid sister back home to get these, otherwise I have no hope. I also want that wool drap sport jacket but can't afford it at EU or KR prices. :P

The Brut Nostalgy's are Italian denim. If you look at the next pair of jeans on Luisaviaroma's site, the Brut 19cm, they're Japanese Denim and when you select your size, they have the black raw available.

Not true...Ive been in contact with the people at the website and they say both pairs ar are Italian-made. I don't think luisaviaroma has any Japanese versions right now.

(The guy said this: "The Item Code 06V079 BRUT DENIM 19CM HEM Dior Jeans are a darker blue and have smaller back pockets than the 06V119 NOSTALGY BRUT DENIM 19cm Dior Jeans.

Both pairs of these Dior jeans are made in Italy.")

Also, Dior IS making a "17CM" jean this season, although they're all sold out everywhere (at least that's what the guy at the NYC store told me yesterday). The actual hem measurement is about 15CM. He said t that for my size (29) I wouldn't be able to get into them anyways, most likely.

As far as I know Dior doesn't make a black raw selvage...although the black raw I tried on yesterday were pretty nice, a little too stiff for me though.
