hello. decided to sign up after months of lurking around. :D hope u guys could help me here.

could someone help me id this pair of levis? hmm these are the only pics i have cause i've traded it away already + cash to get a pair of nbhd jeans a couple of months ago and i miss this pair dearly. haha. first of all i need to set my heart at ease and need to know they're legit or not. here goes as far as i can remember:

LEVIS 501 made in USA in the inside white tag.( i couldn't remember the exact number, but it's not the same number as the outside leather patch. the white tag looks stiched on instead. big E)

Levis 501 - 4859 for the outside back leather patch (weird to have numbers behind the 501)

LEVIS big E on the red tag at back pocket.

thick denim material, red line, chain stiched hem.

hidden back pocket riverts

these are all i could think of for now. here are the pics:

Levi's faded....paper patch...quality isnt as good on these, but they STILL have this weird resin on them....even though theyve been through the was numerous times now.the guy kept trying to up the price saying how it's big E, but I told him that I knew they were fake and big E meant nothing to me...so he backed down after that.

again the fading on the above ones are all genuine...some dude wore them for like 6 months in SEA weather and sold them back...awesome, cheap pickups...I took the raw ones to get hemmed at 45rpm in NYC and they were talking about how awesome the color was on these thai knockoffs...don't know if the workers knew...

nice. who cares if it's fake if it looks good?

well actually, i'm sure levi's would care, but.

yeah, i dont care...

cheapmthr...the denim is fairly nice, not nice like japanese jeans nice, but better/up to par with anything coming out of the states these days....well...not like rag and bone nice, but a billion times nicer color than anything I've seen from Levi's in a while..

fake doesnt matter to me either as long as quality is there. sugarcanes are just fake levis in some lawyers eyes right? and for the price id definitely buy some of those thai fakes. or get the ones that are branded.... justin or real, i forget what they call them...

One of the easiest ways to notice those Thai fakes is the wide selvage line they use. It's similar to Nudie's or Imperial's. Check out the selvage lines LVC uses, or pretty much any Japanese repro, and it's very narrow and skinny.

the look of the selvedge depends on which year's issue they are supposed to look like. There are many LVC's that have the same looking selvedge, and even wider.

Things I look at to spot thais are denim, the patch and the backpockets.

ah... good to know... I doubt the Thai fakers are going after historical authenticity though :)

Justin jeans were like 10 times the price of Thai Fake levi's...they were trying to claim they were from NYC...

haha i grabbed a pair of justin jeans off of ebay for like 30$. they're decent except that they sent me the wrong size and that they were supposed to be 501 repros but they only have 4 buttons and a lower rise (fine by me). also the back patch has kind of a gold shimmer thing going on which i though was gay at first but now i kind of dig.
