this thread sucks more than vista

more than finding usb drivers for win98

more than setting the bios for winnt

more than installing soundblaster for win3.0

and im with mass on the xp laptop

lots of good deals on desktops/laptops nowadays. once you start using windows 7, you'll never want to go back to xp.

XP's still supported for another two years or thereabout. Just so long as you aren't using IE6 anymore you're good for now. Still, Windows 7 is a pretty solid OS.

As far as bloat, both Windows and OS X are guilty of that in their newer versions, as are plenty of software packages (I'm looking directly at MS Office here).

It is possible to run windows xp on a 5GB drive. Vista/7, not so much.

who would want to do that? if youre thinking small, just go embedded; wes2k9 can be as small as 300mb and wes7, 800mb.

Virtualbox. I need to run windows for a few applications but don't want to assign it huge amounts of disk space
