you can't unlink, but you can change your picassa settings so that your album don't appear on your profile unless you explicitly shared it with your friend / circle

yeah, it's unlimited, although said invites will only link to a valid sign up if google has it open, otherwise will go to a come back later page. granted, I think they've been open for the past couple of days straight at least.
