I worked in an independent fashion store in the early-mid '90's but could never afford the Evisu they sold. Then overnight I found myself living in Japan so I picked some up there. Back then I just wanted a thrashed pair of Evisu's and never appreciated the intricacies needed to get the optimum results from the jeans I buy. I just wore them and washed two months on and two months off for four years. My, how things have changed.

I'm 5'3" with a 27" waist and I was pretty sick and tired of stumbling upon a pair of jeans that fit me well about every 2 years. Refused to pay a premium for honeycombs and vertical fading halfway down my calves on a tight pair of jeans. Also started getting picky about how denim manufacturers were actually achieving these effects and decided I could do it better. Once I searched "raw selvage" in google, the rest has been superfuture.

i forgot, but it all began with a thread about Selvedge in the superfuture forum. A good year and 1/2 ago.

I think this thread spawned the whole hysteria of dry premium selvedge denims to new heights.

You can read the posts about SF members now.Seeing how little they knew about selvedge and dry denims untill guys like RingXring came in and class was in session. It was on and poppin after that.....

i saw more people with quality denim so it was less of a taboo to spend 100 + dollars on a pair..

Absolutely killed my 1st pair of engineered levi, loved the way it shaped it's way around my body and the whiskers were in the right place.

Reading an articel in The Face and a tip from a friend. got me into selvedge via evisu and LVC, and it's been going on ever since.

Funny thing being, my jeans definitely turned out better when i just wore em and forgot about it, instead of getting anal about starching, washing, drying, bleach -free soap yada yadda. Trying to get back to that mentality.

I've realised the same thing in the last couple of months.

Guest jeffvyain

was looking for skinny jeans on eBay. ran across some Acnes. Thought to myself, "wow, I've never seen jeans that fit so well." googled acne jeans. first i found their site. then i found superfuture. and then I bought some APCs. and now i'm saving for some Samurais. I'll be close after this weekend!

Went into a store with Evisus, saw the price tag and I was like 'What the Fuck? how can these jeans be expensive?". Did some research and gradually came around to the idea that some denim is better than others, and the same re construction in general.

I agree with alitarbegshe. The pairs I've loved and rocked carelessly have come out the best. Thinking too much about it will generally lead to disappointment!
