Any of you guys ever notice that starch makes your jeans smell worse than they normally might with regular wear?? I have a pair of raw denim that i starched (the only ones Ive strached) and they smell like fuck, I cant even bring myself to wear them anymore so theyve just been hanging up (trying to air em out), but i guess ill have to just have to bite the bullett and wash them... I used FAULTLESS brand starch BTW.

Thanxxx guys

N.

Why not just make the starch yourself? You can control how strong you want it, make as much as you want, and it costs next to nothing.

I use Niagra spray starch, mostly because I also use it for ironing my shirts (collars and buttons) and it is just a lot more convienent.

Most of the commercial spray starches are too weak IMO. Personally I've never found mixing starch and water and tossing it in a spray bottle all that hard.

2 heaping teaspoons of regular corn starch to 3/4 - 1 litre of hot water.

This will make a fairly dilute but very strong starch, just remember to mix it well. Of course you can up the amount by a spoonful or two, past four or five it will get very syrupy and will dry like a rock. There are several further methods of making starch posted on the board which are fairly similar.

hey i think your comment is abit unkind.. i also search first before starting any new threads.. i did the same and can't seem to find anything similar to the thread i had started.. if you don't believe, try searching and for sure you can't find anything similar.. yes.. threads on starching denim do show up but they don't tell you what kinda starch they use.. and i'm curious on the type and brand of starch you guys use, so there's a need for me to start this thread.. anyway thanks for that comment.. i really appreciate it.. :)

Lars, I use "Y3 Strykspray", i just picked it up at my local konsum. 30 spänn!

starching the shit out of a pair of old old old acnes, like from '97 or something. a beauty. got them from a friend who out grew them, very light wear but alot of washes, so lots of color left but no starch and very soft fabric. i hope i can stiffen them up...

sorry if it was unkind

these are from a quick search from the last few months and there are at least 3 others that discuss the actual brand of starch and where people bought it, how they use it, and how much it costs

inmost of them someone says it doesn't matter which one you use, it's all basically the same

Corn starch is the basic ingredient used in/by nearly all commercial starches and laundries. Has been for ages. If your GF still doesn't believe you try it out yourself or just tell her to read this.
