Raf Simons S/S 2011 Paris

I'm actually digging on all the sleeveless coats that have been released for spring 2011. The Dior Homme one is on the top of my list so far, but Raf's version isn't half bad. Still feels a little too buttoned-down for my taste, though.

I do not love the pants - I don't hate them though. Other than that this is a really nice version of the 'new raf' that I can definitely get into. kind of like that 90's minimalism ish that was going on with earlier raf and helmut but with some weird quirky shit like leather skirts and cross dressing

I think Raf went from being very adolescent to being very mature and now has found some kind of middle ground between the two. This seems like a happy medium between the casual punk futuristic stylings of the past and the recent overly conservative, qwerky stylings that weren't so well received. Can definitely get behind a lot of this.

Well i hate the pants. But i agree, 'new raf' is pretty cool.

And def not that mustard leather skirts...uuhhhg.

The (silk?) colour'd shirts over the ties looked sick.

I think the most interesting bits of this collection are the zippers and those hanging zipper handles with interesting fabric.

I also like the coats and the shirts with the type etc. the usual stuff. Geometry.

I am not feeling the pants tho. I know they're supposed to be an experiement with volume and proportion and all that, but my brain (and taste) just couldn't get it.

Wow, all you guys hate the pants? I actually loved them, I wouldn't want them to be a new standard but they'd make a nice alternative on odd days.

I quite enjoyed this collection. While I did appreciate last F/W and the next one, this is the first of the "new raf" collections that has actually got me saving.

The pants are interesting. Though not my cup of tea, i just can't see them working in the 'real' world. Hello? wear that out? unless you wear 5 inch platform heels sure. It works for women. I think the volume/proportion pant thing is for runway.

I dunno with Raf. He's starting to tarnish a little. I loved him a few years back. For me his decline started the seasons after the strappy, tech mountain climber, de stil geometric collection with them crazy sandals and great collab eastpak bags.

While I disagree with you on the pants, and think it's easily wearable, there are certainly other items that many shouldn't try, and those pants certainly shouldn't be paired with anything too fitted up top, which would make it as you say IMO.

As for your second point, I'll wait for 1 more collection before I make a straightforward comment, but I definitely see where you're coming from, and you're probably right.
