i dunno why you guys didnt like the finale. It was closure in a very indirect way. Bobby stood up for himself and established authority in the first episode of the finale and in the second episode Hank and Bobby finally have something that they both love. The show ends with:

Bobby: here's the last steak

Hank: no bobby, thats just the first of many.

and then it pans out to the neighors and then to the Arlen water tower much in the same way the shows pilot began.

I thought This was an excellent finale because you got closure without the story ever ending. The finale couldnt have tied up all the loose ends because that would greatly effect the impact of the previous seasons episodes. Instead, the main character shows that he has grown up and now can interact with his dad not only as his dad, but as his friend. Its what the shows whole premise was based on and now it has been achieved. I really enjoyed and i usually hate series finales of any sort

maybe, but have you ever thought "what does boomhauer do?" It never really crossed my mind. I always figured he was just a playboy without a job much like Kramer from Seinfeld.

And it wasnt the closure that some people were looking for (john recorn x nancy x joeseph x dale) Even though that was kinda resolved but not entirely. I guess all the loose ends were kinda dealt with just like it would in real life throughout the last season as opposed to happening all at once in the finale:

cotton dies

john redcorn decides to stay out of the way

lucky and luanne have a baby

bobby can stand up to women

bobby and hank have something to bond over

And the show just ends with the feeling that life will go on in Arlen but a lot of the outstanding issues no longer linger.

I just feel like this has happened several other times over the years. I mean look at how many times Bobby has joined a team or done something and Hank is momentarily proud of him. I guess the only difference here is that Hank seems to finally accept Bobby without changing his mind like he has done previously.
