Nomad Update

Recommended Posts

thanks, mr. Mystery Nomad Worker. icon_smile_cool.gif

What are the pricepoints like on the NdG stuff? Outlandish? Also, what's the design on the Nomad tee? Is there new stuff from W&H/Spruce or just the stuff from before?

I won't be able to make it into the store until the 16th but when I do I'm sure I'm going to drop quite a bit of cash... as always.

i havnt seen the line yet but one guy was telling me fine print arabic tshirts had the labels screwed up so they would be coming later. Not sure about the bolder print ones but the finer print tshirts sound nicer to me as it will look like stripes.

damn 500 cad for a sweatshirt? isn't nom de guerre selling them for $275 usd?

hmm...let's see...$275 x approx 1.3 = $358 cad...add shipping costs, add custom charges...add a profit for nomad...yes people, nomad is actually a legitiment business that has their own expenses to cover and where profit is to be made...and you come to what i think is a reasonable price for the hoody...

that being said...would i spend $500 for a hoody?...prob not...

would i complain how the city never gets quality clothing, beg that stores go out and bring in quality lines (knowing that it'll cost a pretty dime) and then complain about the prices once they're there?...nope, i wouldn't do that either...

it's a rough estimate...whichever way you slice it, it's still a reasonable price when compared to what Nom De Guerre prices it at...

everybody has to make money...Nom De Guerre isn't pushing it's products out there to other stores for free...Nomad is Nom De Guerre's customer, just like you and i...one thing pushes the other...

however, don't get it twisted, i'm not defending the price of the hoody, i'm just saying that overall, Nomad's price points are fairly reasonable...aside from the visvims...

I hear ya man,

I was just saying that IF Nomad was going the 'reseller' route (for lack of a better term), then that price is reasonable considering the acquisition cost (as you outlined in your previous post...customs, shipping, etc)

However, if they're simply carrying the line and paying a wholesale price, then those prices are kinda high.

Case in point, the Supreme briefcase bags that were @ Nomad for $200 CAD - retail @ Supreme? $88 USD.

That being said, nothing's wrong w/ pricing to demand, and their Supreme stock literally flew off the shelves.

Aside from that, as you said, the price points are pretty reasonable.

i hear ya 100%...good points...

however, firstly...Nomad's accounts with Supreme and NDG are 100% legit...

let's face it...as great as Supreme is - and i know many would argue this point alone - the quality doesn't touch NDG's. for those that have personally seen NDG's collection, i'm sure you'll agree...Each item is well cut and made in Japan...CYC is great and all, but doesn't come close to the overall quality of NDG's pieces...

in the end, what i'm trying to say is that i strongly believe Nomad is doing right with the NDG clothing and price points...you're right, there's nothing wrong with pricing to demand, but are we to truly believe that NDG is as great a hypebeast as Supreme?...

i believe that the prices reflect the quality of NDG's line...and those that "get it", will get it...those that don't won't...and that's fine...Ransom opened up for a reason...

if any of this come off as disrespectful Trini, i apologize...it's not my intent...these are just my thoughts...mainly directed to the kids that whine and complain all the time about Nomad's prices...

Mindspray, you're not disrespectful at all and I totally hear what you're saying w.r.t. the whining about prices, etc.

As I see it, quality doesn't come cheap and from what I saw of Nom's line when I was in NYC about a month ago, it's definitely good stuff, and worth paying decent coin for.

I guess it's just hard to swallow some of the prices that we see here in TO when you know what the 'true' retail price is elsewhere - and I'm not pointing fingers at Nomad/Gdft/Ransom in particular for that as they have definitely come correct in most everything else they've done...it's a general statement for retailers here in Toronto.

A good example is that I'm trying to buy a new watch - list price in USD: $3900. Price here? $5000, and this is from an Authorized Dealer. Make me wonder if they price based on demand/what the market will pay vs. actual cost.

So much for purchasing power parity...

As an American living in Canada, I can safely say that EVERYTHING is substantially more expensive in Canada vs. the USA, especially right now, with the Canadian dollar being strong and the American dollar being weak. Nearly everything is cheaper for me to buy in the USA due to lower pricepoints, lower taxes, and (currently) very little disparity between dollar strengths. It's really too bad.
