i have the hipsters too and yes indeed they are selvage. Aside from the lower waistline they are also significantly different from the other cuts in that they don't taper in around the leg opening as much (they're practically flared out compared to new standards).

Ah, that sounds great. I like the legs of the NS but not the slight taper. Too bad APC isn't making them anymore. Were these technically a girls' jean? Are your balls crushed?

Yes i think they were technically a girls' jean but the "hips" are in no way curvey, as you can see from the pics above. That's why when I was at the store and I went through all cuts and sizes with the salesperson, she didn't bother differentiating them because they're really not that different from straight legs. No, my balls aren't crushed -- I don't generally buy tight fits and I normally wear my pants a little looser and lower so I made sure I had the size that left me enough room. If I could my hands on a camera I'd show you how I look in them.

is there a way to stretch the calve part of dry denim? i mean for my new standards, the thigh area has stretched considerably making the lower part of my leg look disproportionate from the side

I have the hipsters as well. Much less room in the crotch, no tapering (completely straight), tight around the thighs, very low rise. Smaller back pockets, perkier ass.

Minya - I'm pretty sure they are only sold in the store. I got mine at the Mercer site in Soho. I didn't even know they made them until i stopped by to try on the different cuts.

just get some, with apc's sizing the way it is you'll probably be a 26 anyway.

mine are new standards, they are about 8 months old i believe... and yes in a way they have been rubbed against cement.. from falling while skateboarding... also from sitting on my board - the griptape really takes it toll.. i plan on sewing up the back eventually.

you can always dry clean, and there isnt anything wrong with a cold rinse to clean them off and very little loss of indigo. with the first wash you lose alot of stiffness though, but its ok you can counter it with starch or just keep on wearing them
