I'm embarrassed to say I've never had okra. I hate pickles and I lump okras in with them mentally. Do they vary in taste much?

I love the okra. The key to cooking it well is to make sure no water touches it... that's what makes it slimy. Indian dishes make sure it is well dried before sauteing.

I think okra is pretty popular here these days, a lot of places coming out with their own version of "Stamina" Donburi--a mix of vegetables and some protein on rice. Usually okra, natto, raw egg and either gyuu or maguro.

I don't really fuck with natto so I stick with Maguro

Old-fashioned southern friend okra is bomb too.
