Dye and Bamboo

Have two 100% Bamboo shirts from Pamplemosses. They're white, I'd like to dye them black or charcoal.

Question: Is RIT dye (or the process by which the dye is set) too abrasive for such delicate/soft fabric? Can you only set dye by using boiling hot water? Are there any other dyes that are quality yet don't need the whole HOT HOT HOT water or a dryer to work (I actually don't even know if a spin in the dryer is needed...just guessing)?

When we dyed our old stuff, we used procion dyes. Boiling water is suggested for the darkest black, but we just doubled or tripled the salt and put in plenty of dye. It also helps if it soaks for longer. You have to constantly stir it though, and I don't know if you need to stir constantly for RIT dye.

Just off the top of my head, I would think RIT dye would be fine with bamboo. I don't think it would actually break down the thread.
