D'Amage--heard of it?

Hey, I was thinkin' about getting a pair of Jean Paul D'Amage, someone said they were killer. anyone know about them?

I've seen a mountain of them at Nordstroms Rack for the past few months. They look pretty good to me, especially for the price they are there ($69.99)

the denim is indeed good, 12.5 oz ringring from italy, although one or two of the cuts use a lighter denim (it'll be easy to tell by feel)

the cuts are all the same - moderately low-rise bootcut, regular fit in the thighs, average flare

most of the washes are nice, but i think most agree that the "rekko" and "ice" are the best-looking and most distinctive

there's a lot at nordstrom rack, but filene's had them even cheaper ($50), you can call them to see if they still have some in your size - actually, i got a mismarked pair there for $15 the other day

I think not all washes or fit are great, but out of all the styles I find one that I like, very similar to the paper denim LTD vision, but with a slimmer fit.

These guys are talking about a bunch of Shite brands. If a brands' jeans can sell fo' 50bucks, it means that it is mostlikely made in China (not that it is a bad thing - now that the Chinese are improving their quality, but the cost will increase if the quality inproves)

Where is the Denim tradition, quality, knowledge. The newbies need to do some searches and read up on ring ring, SergeD, Wildwhiskey's and other threads about selvedge / Selvage, as well as DNM fabric making etc..

Though I just wasted a min., I do not intend on repeating this.

By the way don't you all realize that giantreptile is taking the piss at you all?

Yo, just because a pair of jeans is selvage doesn't mean it is higher quality. I think that has been established in past threads also. It's not the brands' decision to sell a pair of jeans for $50, it's the retailer's decision. Just about every piece of clothing ever made is overpriced--the demand for that product is the only factor that either sustains it's percieved value or causes the product to be sold at a price beneath its market value. It doesn't really have anything to do with the actual quality of the product. It's up to us as consumers to educate ourselves and decide if something is 'worth' its price.

Not defending Da'Mage jeans cuz I wouldn't buy them for $50 bucks anyway.

as he jsut stated, plent of amazing jeans are not selvage, many DH jeans are not selvage, ALD for instance isnt selvage and asside from soem crazy ass stitching, they are very nice.

For the record, those jeans were about $200 at Nordstrom's before they went to the rack, I looked at them and felt they were basically competing with Earnest Sewn. I like ES better, myself.
