Fender Telecasters in Tokyo?

Anyone play guitar here?

I've been looking into buying a guitar in Tokyo, cos I heard they are quite cheap especially the Japan made ones. (since they are not popular in Japan).

Can anyone recommend shops or areas to look?

Some people have said that Shibuya and Ochanomizu are good places to look.

yeah theyre all around, big cities of course, they got a pretty big rock scene out there. all types.

Japan Fenders rock. I picked up a precison lyte bass years ago for quite a steal at 50% off. Similar USA made ones were very no frills/bare bones, not as well made and roughly the same $$$'s. It's played through countless shite gigs and survived plenty of drops and still kicks ass.

They are great guitars for the money. I wouldn't know if they're a lot cheaper in Japan than in the US... in any case, all other things being equal, go for guitars with a natural wood finish, where you can see the body timber, as they are made from fewer, bigger pieces of wood, and sound better. I've tried the butterscotch ones & they're great guitars... although the THinline and the bound-edge custom are the best-looking.

i got a mean tele thin line from mexico, way cheaper than the american ones by like 500, and plays jsut the same as an american one

yes... i got a mexi strat from last year also... i replaced the pickups and went to a guitar tech and had it set up.... sounds just like an american..

Japanese fenders are nice.....but so are the made in mexico ones if you get a 'good' one.....i used to have a MIM 50s tele and it was a sweeeet guitar. i would seriously not get a MIA fender as the quality can be shoddy on those just as much as a MIM or MIJ...so why pay the premium. and they dont sound any better imo

i really like the yellow teles with a black scatch plate and also the sunburst mexican ones.

I'll have a dig around in tokyo for a cheap one. quite a big souvenir don't you think.
