Jeans too big!

I bought a pair of dry Nudie Flare Glens, but they are just a bit too big in the waist. It bunches up a bit when i put a belt on. Are there any decent ways to shrink the waist a bit?

I could throw them in the wash, but they havnt been worn in at all yet, so thats probably not the best idea.

Would soaking them in cold water and hang drying them shrink them enough without losing much indigo?

just curious, but did you buy those jeans a size larger?

Yeah there seemed to be a consensus that flare glens are a size smaller than other nudies, so you should order a size larger. i found that they fit the same as ralfs and loose franks.

Incidentally, baggy bjorns are huge, and should be sized down 2 sizes.

culture, can you exchange them for a smaller size? that's your best bet. I understand sometimes its hard to do and its annoying because most of us are impatient and want to break them in right away, but it's better in the long run.

I already took the tags off, so unfortunatly i cant exchange them. i decided to stick with them a size larger, but im regretting it now.

Shrinking them in the wash won't really do anything. They'll stretch out again within hours.

I, too, purchased a Regular Ralf one size up. I was about 20 pounds heavier at the time, so I didn't really have a choice, but now they're pretty huge on me. It's a testament to how awesome the jeans are that they still look fantastic on me, though -- they're just really low-slung.

the problem is the waist bunches up when i put a belt on, so if they shrink and i use a belt, they wont stretch back out and there wont be anymore bunching.

will a cold rinse and hang dry shrink them much? and will there be much affect on the indigo or fading process from then on?

there will be minimal (no) effect on the indigo.

Ya, as everyone said... it'll stretch back out after you shrink it. Since you can't exchange them, try selling them before you wash it.

you can have the waist taken in at a tailor.. I've had a pair of jeans taken in like 2 cm, and they looked fine afterwards.

eat a couple dozen donuts everyday for a few weeks. those jeans'll fit you in no time.

Considering you're going to be investing lots of time into these jeans, you should probably make sure you really like the fit before you start wearing them. You don't want to be constantly second-guessing the waist size during your months of wear.

seriously, try selling it before you wash it. Because it'll DEFINITELY stretch out even if you wear a belt. You dont' want to waste your money. Or you can gain some weight.

how can something stretch out if theyre not being put under any strain?

my ralfs were relatively tight to begin with, and i noticed little to no stretching.

If you wear a belt and keep them higher on your hips, it's possible that theyh won't stretch because they won't be under any stress that way. Jeans that are pulled tight around the hips are the ones that stretch the most.

I think they stretch anyway... since minya bought a regular ralf 1 size up (loose fit) and he says it stretches even with a belt.
