Whats a nice salon for men's haircut in NYC?

Preferably an upscale Japanese/Korean place for Asian hair?

Any recommendations? I'm really picky so the cost doesn't matter.

studio 303

i think you mean suite 303

and it's only good if you get one of the senior stylists (April), which is crazy expensive and involves way too much foresight. the only other guy that knew what he was doing left (i think he actually got deported). otherwise, it's an overpriced training for some new guys.

for half the price, check out glenn jason near FIT, but don't actually book glenn. i go to trace, he's chill and does a great job.

this is easy:

hairmates down by st. marks. it's a japanese place, and you can read reviews on yelp.com. there are some other sufu members that get their hair cut here. went for my first time, about a month ago, and the stylist was so professional. was explaining to me how she'd cut my hair based on a pic i showed her, what steps she was going to take in order to make the hair grow in a certain way months after the cut, and how she was going to alleviate the coarseness of my hair. on top of that, when i was first sat down, they offered me a glass of water. great customer service, and they really know what they're doing. $45 for the best haircut i've ever gotten, plus a $10 tip. also, if you go on monday nights, you can get your hair cut by an apprentice for $25. def go with japanese places as hairstylists from japan are required to undergo 2 years of training before actually working.

haha, sorry, just scrolled up and saw fg0d already mentioned the place

went to hairmates once a few months ago right after I moved to the city, they have excellent service. Now I normally cut my own hair but decided to splurge that once, afterwards I got inspired, picked up a few techniques, got some new sissors and went back to cutting my own hair. I do recommend them though, they also give you a short head/neck massage during the process.
