How fitted should a denim type 3 jacket traditionally be?

Alright, so my normal size in most type 3 jackets (mostly repros) is about 2 inches larger than my chest size, if that. Do I size up to +4 or keep it at +2? it wouldn't be hard to button at +2... just really damn slim for a jacket.

unless you're trying to look thugged out i'd say your chest size. type 3's are mean to be fitted.

Remember most Type 3 jackets should be Sanforized/preshrunk. SO normally you wouldn't size up at all.

Fitted jackets always look better. Don't size up 4. That will look to big and bulky.

the most id size up is 2... i usually get them true to size... vintage tho.

Ok here is my biggest complaint with type 3s, the friggin torso. I am a somewhat tall but I have a pretty long torse and type 3 almost look like some kind of sexy hooters belly jacket except not sexy because they are on me! I have a pretty sweet GwG vintage jacket from the 70s it looks like it is based of the lee 101j, it also has the same belly jacket dilema. I understand that they fit a bit short and are designed to end right at the top of you jeans but why is no vintage stuff made for tall guys? Western shirt are bad for this two, all my western shirts I have to roll up the sleeves.

Anyway to get back on topic don't size up.
