Minya, for some reason I believe that you have not yet understood the business model under which supertalk operates. Sure, you can finance it by cutting the profit of the maps and the concierge service, or sell an ad on top of the page and another one after the first post, but you could do so much more. Just look at all of the lucrative ventures that have been created in this forum. T-shirts with the word superfuture printed on them sold for 60 dollars a piece, and people were scouring the forums for answers to obscure questions to get them. Styleforum is making money by selling collaborative pieces with 5EP, but the second somebody suggests a similar venture on here, the idea gets shut down. It almost seems like you want supertalk to not become something bigger and better. None of the moderators know a good idea when they see it. Keep it real. Unban Westside. Unban Trouser KING Cobra.

I don't see why the mods hate so much on westside's satirical literary style.

I'm sort of interested in the West phenomenon. He's one of the funniest posters on here. And he's one of the most ubiquitous and irritating as well. I've wondered if he's a real person, or a team of sociologists conducting an experiment: If we type "Nukka, fuk u, and snitch" ten thousand times in a day, will there be a change in an online community? Or maybe he's a modern Joyce, creating his own jokey street Finnegan's Wake.

Regardless, there is little evidence that West's style is wholly satirical. At times he seems to have internalized the steroetyped language he has coopted. West's "commitment to his style" of language goes so far that it is pretty much impossible to tell if it's a joke or not. I guess you can say the funniest, most telling jokes are the ones that are not obvious jokes but small acts of subversion - but to characterize West's presence as subversion seems overly generous. The ultimate purpose of his posts doesn't seem to be to provoke thought or even to make people laugh - it's to make the topic of conversation turn to West. This is not a worthwhile project, in my opinion. However, West has been completely successful. Not only has he owned every thread, but now he is the subject of this entire board.

At some point, what may be characterized as a commitment to a literary style crosses over into the Tourettic and impulsive/compulsive. West seems hellbent on defining this point
