The Evolution of Jeans: Pictures, Scones and Tea

I usually starched once every two weeks to a month.

I soaked them in warm water for 3 hours and let them hang dry before wearing.

And when I washed them I put them in the machine on a hot/cold rinse and used a little detergent and a small amount of bleach.

I actually yelped a little when I read that bolded part (bolding mine).

Seriously? Bleach?

Really cool fading, but I still wouldn't do the bleach.

Nice entry.

I was skeptical about bleach the first time I ever did it, but a few friends of mine had done it and they came out really nice.

Before I washed them they stretched alot, and they shrunk a little too tight after one wash, but stretched to be perfect again quickly.

I'm not sure how many ounces the Nudie RRDS's are, but those are the next pair i'm doing, I'm 5 days into them so far.

Edit: Yes, I removed both the stitching and the size tag, but I kept the red tab on there.

Bleach! That's intense. Did you mix it in with the water before you put the jeans in, or did you just go gung-ho?

On a related note, I was watching a programme yesterday on the "Worlds most Dangerous Animals" and they extracted some snake venom, rubbed it on dirty jeans and cleaned em' like no other. It was kinda funny, they actually showed the Jeans, the washing machine and all.

Get your snake venom now at selected outlets.

what was the effect of the snake venom? did it act as some sort of bleach?

My very dirty pair of bootcut ola's. These things are sooo slow to show much wear, but also i dont wear them too often. They have stretched quite alot and i am always tempted to wash only because i want them to get back their shape and fit better.

How long were they worn for? I see some nice subtle overall fading going on.

honestly its hard to approximate. Ive had them for maybe 9 months, and i basically throw them on when lounging around the house and whatnot, and since i (like alot of us here) have too many pairs of dry denim, i end up wearing several different pairs for a few hours each day.

as you can see, i also tend to put on the olas when doing things where i'll get pretty dirty, like yard work. Also wore them on a weekend camping trip and several day-hikes, so they do tend to see harder wear than my other denim.
