Proportion of Blu denim

Hey guys, I just thought I'd make a thread to see if anyone knows of this brand? It's called Proportion of Blu and I became interested in them when I found out they were modelled on the golden ratio:

"At the core of every Proportion of Blu creation lies the "Golden Ratio"; a naturally reoccuring sequence of measurements and patterns found in the very building blocks of all life. From the most intricate designs in nature to the most sublime achievements of man, the ration manifests itself. It lies within the air vortex of a bird's wing, the sensuous curves of a Stradivarious Violin, the structural design of the Great Pyramids and the double helix that houses our very DNA.

It's about form, fit and functionality. It's about the beauty of everybody and everything. Meticulously hand-crafted, every Proportion of Blu creation is designed "in the ratio" just for you. "

I got them through a member on this forum but I'm pretty sure they sell in all the major countries. I know they sell in the US, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Russia, Switzerland, Canada etc. It has it on their website - http://www.theproportionofblu.com/

If theres one way I could describe these jeans it would be: sophisticated. The attention to detail is amazing, even the inside of the jeans look great. They are a no-nonsense jean with class and style oozing out of them.

The construction is second to none with chainstitching used all round. There are 2 cuts for guys, slim boot and skinny. I've got the skinny and the slim boot and as I'm rather, well, skinny, I prefer the skinny version.

The denim is raw and lustrous with a really nice sheen to it. I can't wait to see what these look like broken in, the denim is really rich with a slight green hue to it.

The fit is amazing, probably due to them being modelled on the golden ratio. I'm really skinny - 50kg's and 173 cm. They are very comfortable from as soon as you put them on. They look even better on my mate who's got bigger legs than I do so if you can feel these out, even better! Personally I wear them quite low but if you pull them up higher they look even classier. It goes great with a white collared shirt (just watch out for crocking!) but looks just as good in a hoody ;)

Anyway I'll post some pics of the jeans:

And do you work for them?

Nope, i'm a part of this forum just as much as you are bud, just don't post much. Starting to get more involved though, I'll be posting some imperials in the scones & tea thread.

And for the record skeptic, rude people like yourself on this forum keep people like myself and others from wanting to post up again. Keep up the good work mate.

Peace out,

Jem

It was a simple question because your post read like a marketing blurb. No rudeness or sarcasm in that simple sentence at all.

There are a lot of people trying to con us all out there mate, so don't take it to heart.

Enjoy your jeans, by the way I don't think much of the pockets.

Way too fussy looking with all that extra stiching everywhere (esp the back pockets). And I'm not sure I like that one exposed rivet at the back. That's just asking to scratch the side of your car, next time you have to slide next to it to get to the driver's seat inside a garage.

:) It's all good, I can see where your coming from with my low post count. And regarding the back pocket, in person all you see is the main off-white line, the blue lines sort of fade in.. It's kinda cool as it's assymetrical. I'm sure it won't be to everyones taste tho..

obvious marketing crap..

if your looking for some critique to fix the jeans up a bit for the next batch;

- get rid of the rear rivets. they are a pain in the ass, a simple bartack will do. rivets on the back fuck up furniture and just like indigo_junkie said, they fuck up the bolsters on cars.. my bro got in mine with back rivits and fucking ripped the leather!!

- gold rivets, waste of resources.. unless the denim is also the very finest weight that one of the established japanese or american plants offer

- the premium denim industry is very construction and tradition concious, unless you can get quality up to their level you wont make much of a profit on this line

- back pocket stitching looks fussy. especially the 2nd V above the construction.

- being shitty to people here with a low post count wont do much good for you or your/your buddies brand

good luck...

did anyone else notice that the fit on these is horrible? golden ratio FAILS.

the proportions of the ass (pun intended) is weird and droopy...either that or they don't fit your model. The crooked bartack on the backpockets is a bit weird too...and why is there a batack and a rivet? Pick one.The beltloops are way too long...i'm also not into back pocket stitching that outlines your ass.

Alex: I should post a photo of my legs - they are the skinniest sticklegs you've ever seen! It's hard to find jeans that look good on me, I'm happy with the fit on these but as I said before, they look 10x better on someone with a normal body. I bought a 29 Imperial Duke which was huge on me. I had to shrink it with a hot soak / dry and they actually shrunk heaps (which is suprising considering they are sanforised) but they are still huge on me.

In terms of better fits I like Cheap Mondays or Nudie Super Slim Kim / Slim Jim.

We aren't really that spoilt for choice in Australia.

Thomas: thanks for trying to offer me feedback, but this is not my brand. I just got them from a member here. Your right about exposed rivets though, my friends cars bonnet got pretty scratched up when a mate sat on them.

gimmegimme: I am the dude in these pics! These jeans are supposed to be worn higher, but I choose to wear my jeans low as I don't have an arse. It's back and legs connected together in one straight line.

ha...ok...you have no arse...but still, looking at the jeans, the yoke and beltloops are way too low, and they make your non-arse look even droopier than it should (I also have a non-arse, these are things to avoid).

So, you're saying that you got them through a member on here? And did the female in the pictures happen to pick hers up from here as well? Before this post there hasn't been any other tags for proportion of blue on superdenim or supermarket from what I can see. And they just happened to sell you both styles? It certainly looks like a lot of poses.

More tips (since you asked):

-if you're gonna wear skinny jeans, they shouldn't be baggy

-australia's climat doesn't cater to close-fitting denim

-don't ride the skinny-jean train for too long...you'll regret buying too many pairs when they go out of style

-Studio D'Artisans SD-103's - my holy grail...not skinny, not baggy, just perfectly slim...low rise, great quality & cut

...now I sound like a salesman...I could only dream of working for SDA :(

roflcopterownsyou: the girl in the jeans is wearing the other pair of mine (slimboot). The person that I picked up the jeans from is a member of sufu whom I met in another post, she owns the label and after receiving them, I felt like giving her jeans a review. I don't see anything suspicious / wrong about that and I shouldn't be trying to prove you guys anything...

Back to the jeans: gimme gimme, thanks for those tips mate! I wish I could pick up a pair of Studio D'Artisans over here. Maybe I'll look into getting them online.. Is this possible? Also Australia gets quite cold over the winter, it even snows in alot of places. So winter is when I crack out the jeans. Summer its shortshorts to blind anyone who dares stare at the holy chicken legs!

Also about riding the skinny train too long.. I started around 3 years ago wearing my gfs jeans, I loved how for once I wasn't 'swimming' in my jeans. The only problem was there was never enough room in the crotch area. Soon after guys started wearing girls jeans which prompted some manufacturers to create a tighter style for guys too. I bought heaps of mens skinny jeans and now I have the best of both worlds. I guess I'm on my quest to find the perfect pair and one day I'd even like to create the perfect pair. Anyway recently I took ALL of my old baggy jeans to the tailor and got her to change them all to a tighter fit, she did an amazing job and now I have heaps of jeans that are tighter. I don't think I'd ever wear baggier jeans unless they were just a simple more relaxed fit. Even if they go out of style I'll still be rocking them simply because it makes me feel comfortable wearing them. Most of my clothes are tight and I find that it complements my skinny bod. As you can see I only posted the skinny style as the other just didn't fit my bod and my buddy has claimed them.

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate them and let me know about buying the SDA's online :)

wrong. i'd say 'attempting to be sophisticated'

"detail" is too overdone.

the arcuate(S)- yes all 10 of them, look like Mavi stitching on crack..and the white bits sort of 'outline' the shape of the ass, which looks odd- maybe rotate it?

it's on the coin pocket as well...

i tend to like things simple, plain, and clean....but a bit of detailing isn't a bad thing- it just needs to be applied tastefully and in a way that benefits appearance instead of distracting attention

This lady designer had this idea about the golden proportion jean concept 2 years ago. Bart Sights Laundry in Kentucky was backing her up and asking around for opinion, so I don't think this is a marketing thing because Bart doesn't need SF's opinion since his denim laundry works with Rogan, LVC, Earnest, and some other high-end denim lines..

I personal think it's a marketing thing (about the golden proportion), it's a story to tell and make people believe it's the shit, If the jeans is selling above $160 a pop (and i bet this is higher), the fit is not going to be very bad, it's going to fit some people well, great and amazing, and very bad and horrible for some others..

the fit looks nice but the back pockets make it seem like you have a bubble butt haha. looks nice on the chick though haha

hah! that's a good thing if it makes my ass look bigger :)

not even close to dior fit.... next

I'm dying to try on a pair of Diors to see what the hype is about.. Found out the closest place is in Melbourne so I'll have to wait till next month.
