2007's Best Albums So Far

Recommended Posts

Alright, time waster. It seems like this year has already produced many more good records than all of last year. Let's see:

Jay Reatard: Blood Visions - fuck yes,

DC Snipers - Missile Sunset - awesome dirty punk.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - 5:55 - charming and discomforting.

Amy Winehouse - Back to Black - some weak stuff, but the good tracks hum along

beautifully

Prodigy - Return of the Mac - Return to 1997 hard core New York rap.

Feist - The Reminder - better than her first.

Ted Leo - Living with the Living - better than the last one, and pretty damn good.

King Khan and the BBQ Show - What's for Dinner - excellent garage.

Pony's - Turn out the lights - better than the last two, moody rnr.

Beach House: s/t - unerring shoe gaze.

What else?

I'm tempted to listen to the Klaxons, but I suspect that they are just the latest overhyped English export NME is attempting to foist onto us helpless Americans: after Clinic, Arctic Monkeys, the Libertines, Bloc Party - anything from the UK is going to have to be seriously good before I pay it any attention. Fuckers wasting my damn time!

My favourites of 2007 thusfar:

Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime

The View - Hats off to the Buskers

Blonde Redhead - 23

Maxïmo Park - Our Earthly Pleasures

Not really 2007, but I love the last album by The Shins. Amy Winehouse is good stuff for when my family is coming over.

The new Bloc Party album is just not doing it for me. Loved their debut EP and album. Currently listening to the new Arctic Monkeys album which is surprisingly good, but I think I'm getting tired of their sound. I had the same problem with Franz Ferdinand.

Mark Ronson- Version

Blonde Redhead- 23

Gui Boratto- Cromophobia

Air Conditioning- Dead Rails

Sensual Physics- The Thin Girl

Digitalism- Idealism

Distance- My Demons

I think that Volta (bjork) and Kala (MIA) are going to be the best records of the year along with Version.

Actually has Volta been leaked yet?

babyshambles - the blinding EP

feist!

Fuck yeah, except it's more an end of 2006, not 2007.

The only good album this year for me was Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare, suprisingly good follow-up to the first album. I actually prefer it to the debut these days.

Don't think I have bought anything else release in 07, been buying a lot of old stuff... a very boring year so far.

Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime

This has been out out for awhile (middle of 2006?), at least in Canada. Excellent choice nonetheless.

My vote goes to Do Make Say Think, Klaxons and LCD Soundsystem so far for this year.

On a negative note, anyone else really disappointed by Fall of Troy's newest?
